But the monsters did not listen. Their red eyes fixed on Tanya’s group. Saliva dripped from long teeth. They charged. The first monster leaped straight at the wolf closest to Tanya. Its jaws clamped down on his arm with a sickening crunch. The wolf screamed. Blood sprayed across the snow. He tried to stab it, but the creature shook him like a rag and threw him to the ground.
