Serene said, her voice laced with confidence.
Taking her heed, I sprinted deep into the forest, the two wolves chasing right behind me. The sky disappeared, replaced with a thick ceiling of interlocking branches that cast long, shifting shadows. The path became uneven, slowing me down. Taking a deep breath, I took a gamble, one that will decide if I will live or die. “Phoebe, you can do it. Just believe in yourself,” Serene encouraged. Then I jumped, landing in between the two wolves. The black wolf froze, confusion flickering in his gaze, seeing two identical silver wolves, unable to distinguish which was which.
