Chapter 22: Solo Boss Fight The big black monster smashed into the concrete path with a loud crash that shook the whole wall beneath my feet. The concrete broke under its weight sending small gray rocks bouncing over the edge. Up Close, the monster was really scary. It was over nine feet tall with muscles that looked like wet leather in the dim morning light. It smelled like metal and rotting wood. It did not have hands; its long arms ended in thick curved bones that looked sharp enough to cut through a car engine. Its chest moved as it breathed, blowing a bad smell right into my face.

"Whether Gabriel means it or not, I just want to take care of him." My mother held her tightly, too choked up to speak. The crowd started shouting again, demanding the grinder be turned on and that I be reduced to nothing. But the operator stayed cautious and insisted on running a full analysis on the chip. I sat there, tense, staring at the screen. Half an hour passed. No abnormalities showed up. At the judge's command, the grinder roared back to life. Blood sprayed. I screamed, on the verge of blacking out. Then suddenly, the operator shouted, "There's something wrong with this chip!"

she continued, “their blood responds before their minds do. That is why mates feel one another across distance. Why separation feels like illness.” Her gaze drifted knowingly toward me, though Mae had asked. “That is also why denying it can be fatal.” The candles flickered, shadows crawling across the walls. “Not everyone who is recognized should be turned,” the Ancient One said. “But those who ask. Those who step forward and choose the monster willingly—” She leaned toward us, voice lowering. “They almost always survive.” Her eyes locked fully onto mine. “Because the change does not create the darkness,” she said. “It only gives it permission.”

I looked up and my stomach dropped. Aziel Nightbane. The monster himself. His golden eyes burned down at me with pure hate. Up close he smelled like blood and smoke and something darker that made my wolf stir. “Who are you running from boy?” he growled. His voice was low and rough like gravel under boots. His grip tightened on my arm hard enough to bruise. I gasped for air and forced words out even though my throat felt tight. “Please. I am nothing. Just a slave omega. Let me go and I will disappear. You will never see me again I swear it.”

"Cameron Stuart! Just how much more trouble are you trying to cause me!" Natalie Parker's shrill voice rang in my ears, jolting me awake. The moment I opened my eyes, I saw her raising a bottle of sulfuric acid to splash it on me. Recalling the unbearable agony that overwhelmed me in my previous life, I instinctively reached out to grab the bottle. Still, some of the liquid splashed out anyway, dripping onto my body. I gasped in pain. After exhaling deeply, I clenched my jaw and caught Natalie by the wrist. "Are you mad? You can kill someone if you throw an entire bottle of sulfuric acid at them! Don't you know that?"

I braced for the impact— —but a roar split the night. A golden blur crashed into the Voidhollow, knocking it across the gym. The creature shrieked, slamming into the wall with bone-rattling force. I blinked through the dust. A boy stood between me and the monster—broad shoulders rising and falling, golden hair catching the moonlight. His eyes glowed molten amber, his jaw set with fierce determination. Auren Ryker Drakovar. I knew him, even though today was just my first day. Everyone talked about him, but unlike Kael and Lucien. He is a quiet one. According to what I heard, he is a Dragon Prince and heir to the throne.

I couldn't believe my ears. "No. Not you. I was talking to my friend Bat." I told him. "Where is that friend of yours." "My tattoo is my friend. You can't believe it's a magical one. It can talk to me whenever it wants to." I praised it before him. "Really. Can you show me. Am curious I need to have a look at that magical tattoo of yours." He said tilting his head to one side. Proudly, I removed my long black hair from my neck and back to show him.

Thorny vines shot out of the woods and wrapped themselves around one of the monsters, trapping it but it wouldn't hold for long. The other two ran towards me with a speed I hadn't expected from monsters their size. Blasting them with my water magic didn't deter them, instead, it angered them further. They had almost gotten to me when the mist popped out six huge monsters, five of which immediately went into action. The winged monster didn't, instead, it trotted to me and nuzzled my cheek, making me smile. The Egran, which I had decided to name my monsters, fought with Karissa's scorpion-wolves with such speed that stunned the scorpion-wolves themselves at first.

"But it's only a dream love. It's not real." "But that wasn't the worst part Dad." Max said sitting up and facing Damon with wide worried eyes. Magnus watched Max, feeling his body tense with a deep feeling of dread. Max wiped his nose with the corner of his blanket as his eyes began to well with tears. "A m-monster came out of the pond...a giant, red beast..." ...with broken wings of dazzling white flames and eyes so dark and merciless, to look upon them would destroy your mind and leave you screaming and writhing in agony... Damon shuddered as Max's monster appeared before his eyes, rising from a pool of pitch and flames.

Mysterious said to himself. " Acras medera " Mysterious chanted and a strong force lifted the horned beast and it hit's them of, Mysterious channelled the powers of the sun into him and his eyes were deeply red, It was like it was burning and huge wings sprouted out of mysterious back while the Mark of Armageddon glowed.
