“They’re here!” The words struck me like physical blows. They’re here. The nightmare we’d spent weeks whispering about in council chambers had become reality. The Ironbloods. Magic-wielding killers who had burned entire villages to ash. Malakor. The warlord. I froze. The slums had taught me how to survive. How to steal. How to fight. How to disappear into shadows. But this wasn’t another tavern brawl. This was war. Monsters. Magic. Blood. Death.

"Zergs have corrosive blood! Their shells are hard! They are immune to bullets! Normal people can't kill them!" "Can or can't, we'll see after I try," I say, eyeing the joint between the monster's head and body. I kick off the wall, launching myself into the air. "And who said I was normal?" The Zerg opens its mandibles. I catch its antennae mid-air and swing myself onto its back. I flip the axe in my hand. Thwack. I drive the blade precisely into the gap in its neck armor. I hold onto the handle for dear life as the monster thrashes. I twist the blade. Green slime sprays out. I dodge to the side, avoiding the corrosive splash. Below me, I can feel the axe handle melting from the acid.

Defeated. ---

“That’s your fault.” He scoffed. “You set half the hallway on fire.” More growls. Dozens this time. Doors started opening on both sides. One by one, monsters slithered out. Witches cloaked in red mist. Wolf hybrids with stitched jaws. Blood mages with blindfolds and blades fused into their forearms. Soldiers. Experiments. Killers. Ashton grinned. “You still don’t want to split up?” “Not unless you want to die without me.”

A, I gave the monster the ability to locate anywhere in MistWorld. I also added monsters like the last one I had created just in case the monsters arrived and I needed a chance to escape. This time, I gave them super strength, a little more height, and speed. The black mist appeared just as three scorpion-wolves stepped out of the forest, their eyes on me, and roared. Taking an involuntary step back, I summoned my earth powers. Thorny vines shot out of the woods and wrapped themselves around one of the monsters, trapping it but it wouldn't hold for long.

"There is one more problem we have to look at." I pinched the slope of my nose and sighed. "And what that problem might be, now?" I asked looking up. She gave me a sympathetic smile. She knew how overwhelmed I was from this sudden dump of information. "As I told you before, no one knows what creatures they are. How they look like or even what they are called. Fighting someone without knowing about them makes you weaker." She was right. How could I fight them without knowing what weakness they possess? Or even if they have any.

She was bloodied and badly wounded but Chloe could feel that she was still alive. The shadows didn’t hesitate. They lunged forward, moving like ghosts as they charged at the creature. The creature let out a enraged shriek that was so loud Chloe thought her eardrums might burst. But still, the wolves carried on, unaffected by the inhuman sound. Something about the shadows charging it down clearly unsettled the mysterious monster because it was off of its victim in an instant darting off into the forest without a trace. It’s time for you to go back, your majesty Another voice echoed through Chloe’s mind. You have been here too long.

They had such an excellent bond based on their likes and dislikes. The real Monster had not yet finished, but had just started. She would awaken Luther's true monster. She would destroy him and his family. She would make Noelle's life an absolute hell. This is the second part of Monster. *********
