The curse doesn’t hurt you—it’s waking you. Outside, the forest trembled. The Moon hung too low. And miles away, deep in the Vale, an old woman’s laughter drifted through the trees. “Finally,” the witch purred, stroking a bowl of blood-bright water. “The Luna of MoonRiver has awakened. And she is mine to claim.”

The glow brightened. Then suddenly— Another faint light appeared beside it. A softer glow. Pale blue. Luna’s eyes snapped open. “What was that?” Mira smiled. “The Moon of Tides.” Luna stared at the glowing energy in her hand. “I can use other moons too?” “Not all of them,” Mira explained. “But some may answer your call.” Kael and Aeron watched from the hill below. Aeron whispered. “That’s new.” Kael nodded slowly. “And powerful.”

In a while Maria came in and told Moon that her father was ready to meet her. Moon hugged his mother and thanked her. Then Moon informed his mother that he'll be spending the night with Ocean. Maria smiled and told him to be back before breakfast. She fed Moon then left. As soon as Maria left, Moon jumped out of the window and ran to Ocean's. As promised, she was waiting for him. Moon came in and pinned her on her bed. She liked his dominant side and she felt safe with him. Moon softly placed his lips on hers. She moaned as he bit her lower lip, asking for entrance. S

“We don't have much time, alpha.” Mere minutes later, the man rushes back to my side and echoes. “Alpha, the moons are complete. The five moons are out!!” An ear-splitting roar that builds from the recesses of my heart spills from my lips. “Grrrrrrrr!!!” It sounds so strange. So aggressive. So dark. But it's coming from me. “Rain!!” Logan's voice. “Ryat help me, let's carry her!” He tells the healer.

**** Pov: Lupa. The forest is heavy with mist, the full moon cutting through the haze like a blade. I kneel on the damp earth, my knees sinking into moss, hands pressed to the ground as I whisper prayers to the Moon Goddess. It’s been years since I’ve felt her call this strong, a pull in my bones that drags me from my bed in the Nightshade compound. My silver hair hangs loose, catching the moonlight, and my breath steadies as I offer my heart to her guidance. Ember, our Luna, is fierce but young, and with Rowan and Caelen in her care, I need wisdom to steer her right.

After taking a shower, I walked out of the bathroom, and put on my robe, then walked down back to the sitting room. My phone began to ring, and it interrupted my thoughts. I discovered it was my beta who was trying to reach out to me, so I answered it immediately. “Anything wrong?” I questioned as I got to the fridge, and brought out pineapple juice, and then got myself a glass cup. “No, Alpha. I just wanted to inform you that it seems the full moon would come earlier than usual.” “Oh, and how did you get that information?” I asked as I poured in my pineapple juice into the glass, not totally believing his information.

I paused. “This also explains why patients are at their worst around the new moon. That is when the body’s rhythm fluctuates the most violently and the disconnect is hardest on the tissue.” I looked out at the room. “Lunar lung syndrome is not an external attack on the body. It is the body losing its connection with the moon entirely.” I turned back to the board and began writing. “The core of Moonlight’s drug development is to use natural medicinal compounds to suppress that disconnection while simultaneously repairing the lung tissue that has already been damaged. Four herbs. Specific ratios.”

“I’m going to pass out.” Dad stepped into the living room at that exact moment, holding a clipboard and looking like he was preparing for war. “Alpha Rowan’s pack is arriving by sunset. Blue Ridge in the morning. And Blood—” He stopped. Mom shot him a look that said, Do not even think about it. “What?” I asked, sitting up. “Blood what?” “Blood Moon,” Kieran said flatly. My pulse spiked. “Blood Moon? As in the Blood Moon? The ruthless warriors? The ones who single-handedly deter rogues from three borders away?”
