She is simply too trusting. If something were to happen to me, Elena would have to free herself from the binding. She must trust her fated mate when the time comes, as he is the key once I am gone. I hope I get to see the day when Elena and Damien's friendship blossoms into a beautiful romance, but if not, I know he will take care of her.
