Moonbound: The Alpha's Claim Novels & Stories

and the last thing I could hear was someone shouting my name until everything went black. *The moon was shining extremely bright in the night sky. Making the stars shine even more. The night seemed to be peacefully beautiful. Suddenly the moon turned red... not just any red but Blood Red. It was as if someone had angered it. The sky became darker and the moon became even bigger and brighter. "Who are you? Why have you come here? a stern voice asked. I looked around to find nothing but darkness.

“I brought them out to gather moon-herb for the Luna. Under the full moon, it’s stronger, and she’s been struggling to sleep.” The other guard, who’d been so proud posturing just seconds ago, drops his gaze. “We meant no offense, sir. Just doing our rounds,” he mutters. Lloyd regards them coldly for a few seconds. You could cut the tension with how thick it is. Lloyd stops directly in front of them. His voice, when he speaks again, is cold steel wrapped in velvet. “If you were doing your rounds properly, you would have sensed me sooner. Or do you not recognize an Alpha’s presence anymore?” The word Alpha lands like a thunderclap. Both guards instinctively bow their heads, the shift in power

"Now, to the newest addition in my family, Alpha Hayes Reid. From the moment I met you when I had gone to see the late Alpha Reid, I knew instantly that you were destined for greatness. Though quite young then, I couldn't help but observe your wittiness, sense of loyalty, and boldness, and it was with great joy that I had received your betrothal offer to my sweet little girl." I had been betrothed to Hayes since I was Fifteen because his first mate had died in an attack, and he had to choose someone else to be his Luna when the responsibility of being a leader fell on him. His late brother, who was the Alpha then, died suddenly in an attack alongside his own mate, and Hayes was in line to ru

he said. "Yes, Alpha, there are lots of beautiful, strong women that came to this ceremony just for you," Elder Albert said in agreement with Kael. "Please reconsider your decision, any of them would make a better Luna than her." another elder added. "I've made my choice," Alpha Xavier said, his voice as cold as stone. "No, the moon goddess cannot --" Kael began. "Are you saying that I don't know what I'm doing?" Alpha Xavier growled, his eyes dark with anger.

I couldn’t believe that I had found him in my last few seconds there, telling me that the Moon Goddess heard my prayers, and that she favored our fight against Red Moon. There was no doubt in my mind, that she disapproved of the conduct and behavior coming from Red Moon, especially their Alpha. Something that Alpha Orion said to me moments ago still stuck in my head, of what kind of revenge he could possibly be seeking, because I could only remember Red Moon always being at the top of the food chain. But it was clear that all of them had gone mad, and that he had to be delusional, because what Alpha condones, taking Alpha heirs from their packs.

"Our spies have brought in news that one of the neighboring packs, the moon shadow pack has decided to take a step towards advancing their territory." Some cabinet members shifted in their seats uncomfortable for they knew what was coming. Draven continued. "Our sources tell us that Alpha Landon is to take for himself a Luna in the next four moons." As the Alpha said this, murmurings erupted from the cabinet members and the Alpha paused. It didn't take long for the chattering to die down completely. No one wanted to get on the Alpha's nerves immediately after the ordeal of the blood moon. "Now we all know what this means don't we all?" Draven asked.

“To others, it looks like preparation.” “For what?” “For consolidation.” The word is dangerous. Our allies would never allow it. “He wouldn’t do that,” I say. “Wouldn’t he?” she counters. “A marked Luna who lit the sky? A pack already feared? What happens when other Alphas decide Blackmoor is shifting the balance?” I swallow. “They don’t know her,” I say. “No,” Grace agrees. “They don’t.” “That’s the problem,” I reply, but I am choking on the words.

Jax confirmed. They sat in silence after that. Alpha and beta, surrounded by destruction, waiting for news that might save them or destroy them completely. Outside, the moon climbed higher. Somewhere in hidden caves, Winter Moon was probably sleeping or staring at darkness or thinking about the mate bond that connected her to someone she barely knew. And Jax, caught between loyalty and diplomacy, prayed to whatever spirits might be listening that this desperate plan would actually work.

“Luna, please–” “Don’t you call me that, now you remember I am Luna, right?” she lashed out at the guard. This was more than enough for me. “Get her out now,” I ordered. Her voice trailed behind as she was dragged outside. **** After what looked like minutes turned to hours, I honestly lost track of time. A surge of power rushed up my arm, golden light racing across the floor like lightning. The mark of the Alpha appeared on Caleb’s wrist, small but unmistakable.

“My dear young lady, you do not seem to understand. I am here to claim you, and you have little say in the matter. What’s done is done.” Miriam whirled on the man, Dottie and Sam moving in behind her in an aggressive show of force. “How dare you come here, seeking to claim anything,” Miriam said. “The full moon has passed and your powers are weakened. You do not claim anything until the moon is full again.” Alpha scowled threateningly at the three women. “You know my rights as well as I do. The girl has one month, and when I come back, she will be mine…forever.”
