This was what the wolves called the blood moon. I always wondered if it was only a legend but today I worry that it might just be an omen. “He’s near.”my wolf whispered in what sounded like she was afraid. “Who?” I whispered back, but she only growled.

It was mine. Tonight, nothing felt predictable. The moon had risen huge and white, not soft but stark—like a coin hammered flat and nailed to the sky. Its light made edges cruelly clear.
