"It is an old family recipe of the kings." "It’s…strong…" Gale gasps, wrinkling her nose. "You don’t have to finish it if you don’t want." Ramone points out, "No, I’m fine." To prove her point, Gale lifts the goblet to her lips and downs its contents. Once she is done, she passes her cup to Ramone in an indication that she wants more.

Áine double-checks with a look of surprise on her face, much to Irina’s and my amusement. “No, I said Ma-ma-jua-na,” I sound out. “It’s a spiced drink made with run, red wine, honey, tree bark and herbs. Kind of tastes like port.” Irina makes a grossed out face. “Sorry, Lani but that sounds vile. Rum and red wine? Seriously?” “Don’t knock it till you try it. The one my mamá makes is ¡qué rico!” I exclaim smugly. “Your mum makes alcohol?” Áine quizzes, her surprise only growing.

Breakfast came out, we sat there eating together, talking about the pack and the big Blue Moon gala that was coming up next month because of the actual Blue Moon event. Lexi's pov Nolan intercepted me and handed me a glass. “Drink this,” he offered. Furrowing my brow at him I tipped the glass and swallowed the contents then hissed from the burn. “What was that,” I sputtered as he laughed. “A hundred and twenty proof Moonshine,” he chuckled and I sneered. “I don't want to get wasted!” Still grinning at me he took the empty glass from my hand and placed it on a tray of a passing waiter.

It takes me a moment to realise the Moon goddess herself is teasing me. As I look at her she starts to look feinter as if she is pencil on paper, being erased and then nothing.

The whole studio was illuminated in the soft glow of moonlight and I let it soak into me. Padding toward the cupboards, I crouched down and looked at the fancy bottles of alcohol stashed there. I had tried the fanciest of the alcoholic drinks from around the world but none of the human alcohol was strong enough to get a werewolf drunk. Shuffling through the bottles glinting in the moonlight, I reached back to the strongest of them all. Bloodmoon Merlot, especially designed by fermenting the Merlot grapes with the berries and herbs grown in the coldest region of the North.

Cyrus’s voice was light and pleasant, while his friend looked out of sorts. “Ghost?” He nodded, slightly happier that I said his name. “Is that your real name?” He shook his head no but didn’t respond. Okay then. The guys drained their drinks in a single gulp. Cyrus enjoyed his while Ghost made a face. “Here.” I took his glass and filled it from a different bottle, which we kept away from view. “Try this.” A slow grin formed as he tasted the drink. “Smoother and delicious?” He nodded. “Bourbon is made from more corn and less rye. The oak barrels help form the caramel and vanilla sweetness. Cheap rye tastes like battery acid to a discerning palate.”

It was different but I immediately looked away. Ignoring it. Mara leaned toward me. “So…” I looked at her. “What’s your poison?” I frowned. “My what?” She laughed. “What kind of alcohol do you drink?” “Oh.” I shrugged awkwardly. “I don’t really drink often.” Mara grinned. “Perfect.” That somehow worried me. She disappeared behind the counter before returning with a small glass filled with clear liquid. She pushed it toward me. “What’s this?” “Moonshine.” I eyed it suspiciously, then slowly lifted the glass. The smell alone nearly made me regret everything.

Nostalgia hit her hard. She tossed a fist-sized gourd of wine toward Uncle Tubbs. "Let's go. Don't disturb Uncle's nap." She and Faye grabbed the pastries and left without looking back. Uncle Tubbs popped the cork on the gourd. Instantly, a rich, potent aroma filled the kitchen. Legend had it that the Drunken Hermit of the North only brewed one type of liquor—*Elysian Nectar*. He only made two ounces every ten years. It went to the highest bidder.

It was a dream she had long harbored, now finally realized. She moved gracefully to a side table, taking two crystal wine glasses, a tangible symbol of their newfound union. As she carefully poured the ruby-red liquid into each glass, her thoughts briefly flickered to the remaining potion hidden away in a vial. The magical elixir that had brought her this far, that had secured her place as the Luna, and she intended to use it to keep Andrew under her spell.
