One rogue, a wiry wolf with gray fur, tried to flank her, but she was too fast, spinning in the air and sinking her teeth into his side. The rogue howled in pain as she shook him violently, throwing him to the ground. But before she could finish him off, the second rogue leaped at her back, claws outstretched. She twisted just in time, slamming her body into him, and they both rolled across the ground in a snarling mass of fur and blood.

However, it was covered in patchy, matted fur. Their eyes were slits of red and their ears were pointed straight up. Each had fingernails that were lengthening and sharped into little daggers. Join me and I will spare this pack the death that awaits them!”

A low growl ripped through the silence. The warriors stiffened, weapons drawn. From the mist between the trees, a wolf lunged, but not like any wolf I had ever seen. Its fur was streaked with ash and shadow, its eyes burning with the same blue light as the runes. Symbols were carved into its skin, glowing as if alive. “Back!” Kael barked, shoving me behind him as he shifted halfway, claws ripping from his hands. The wolf hit hard, slamming into two warriors and sending them sprawling. It fought like a creature possessed, faster and stronger than anything natural.

I've done it. I've finally managed to shift. I don't know how, or what the hell just happened, but I'm on all fours, and my senses are maxed out. Everything smells stronger, the light is brighter, and the strength I feel in my limbs is something I've never felt before. It's like I'm moving on clouds. I have paws and claws, and I feel like laughing because my fur is red, almost redder than my hair. I can't speak, though, but I let out a howl that pierces through the morning sky.

Freya was too sick to defend herself and the other girls had barely made it to the tree-line before being apprehended by more soldiers in combat fatigues. She had no time to react though because Omar was suddenly charging at the other male, jaws snapping as he aimed for Lucas' shin. Lucas was faster despite being in his human form but his eyes flashed amber as he darted out of the way with ease and grace. Omar was quick to recover though, twisting in a flash to lunge again. This time he did connect with Lucas but the male was there to use Omar's momentum against him, the giant wolf's body slamming into the snow with a thud.

They were children, elderly wolves, and those who weren't ready for a battle yet. I didn't plan to stay with Cali. I had too made up my mind to help with the war, after all, my kind too was a part of it, and mostly my mom and my best friend.
