"Alpha blood," Madeline quipped. "They never actually retire. They just find smaller things to control."
Diana’s gaze drifted to the playground, landing on Leo. The boy was a blur of red fabric, a small engine of chaos zooming between the slides. Diana didn't look like a grandmother watching her legacy. She looked like a stranger watching a stranger.
