I fell asleep after several minutes. The next day, I decided to head into a few stores with Jenny. Just to get away from the mansion and have some great company. Something to distract myself from the troubles inside my brain. Jenny and I headed into a book store and we looked around. We both enjoyed reading all sorts of books. Reading something can make you forget about the world around you for a moment and some books can even make you feel like you’re in whatever world is created inside the book. I reply, looking over the shelves to the right of me. The guy is quiet for a minute while he considers what I said. He then leads me over to a table with books erratically stacked on top of it. “These are the clearance books. I run a buy one get one on this table. I would recommend getting two that speak to you. Maybe a couple of different genres,” he advises.

“I mean you as a homebody, not as my boss or anything like that.” It might be an exaggeration to say that Ingrid felt that day was very serene. She was a homebody herself when it came to it, always staying home when she didn’t have work, but it was a different feeling when she was with a man, and they were just relaxing. And his house... God, it felt like home already. “What kind of books do you read?” she asked interestedly. “Stephen King, Dan Brown, Clive Cussler, John Grisham, and the like.”

I exclaimed, reading the title of each book I grabbed. "Tell me, what genre do you prefer?" She asked, settling on a wooden stool beside me. "I read all books. I don't have a particular genre," I answered. The truth was, I've never been exposed to many books so I'm not sure what genre I did love the most. "Really? I only read crime thrillers and comedies," She replied, folding her arms together as she adjusted herself. "What a combination, your choice of book is….." I laughed, not knowing the right word to the flow. It's like dropping oil in water.

So I pasted a friendly smile on my face and spoke to her. "We have both fiction and nonfiction books, and there are a lot of genres under each. We have romance, fantasy, horror, sci-fi and the likes under fiction and we also have self help, motivation, religious, educational books and such under non fiction, so please feel free to explore." My voice was professional. "Um...what books do you like?Personally?" It took everything in me not to show my frustration. "I'm not picky with books."

I walked downstairs to my boutique with a mug of coffee in my hand and a book which I'm currently reading. It was still raining outside making a puddle of water in different places on the street. I sat down in front of my counter and took a sip of my coffee. "Um, heavenly." I said and put the mug on the counter in front of me as I opened my book and started to read. I was reading a criminal novel. I only read three genres and that is romantic, criminal and fantasy.

By the time Momma passed I was married with a little one on the way, so my chance for college had passed, too. But I never stopped reading. Got me a nice little library out back, filled with all sorts of books crammed on bookshelves made by my own two hands. Books like Tom Sawyer, Edgar Allen Poe stories, Huck Finn and The King in Yellow, (that last one I don’t read much cause it always gives me strange dreams), some old mysteries, a clutch of Lovecraft’s books (they hurt my head, too, so I don’t read them much neither), my Hardy Boys books from growing up, and a whole bunch of newer ones by Stephen King and Dean Koontz. “What kind of books?” “Mostly biographies.” “That sounds exactly like you.” Julian stood up from the chair as well. “And you only read romance?” “Not only,” I said defensively. “Just… mostly.” “Why?” I shrugged. “Because they’re easy to get lost in.” Julian studied my face like he was trying to understand something deeper behind that answer. “Real life isn’t like those stories,” he said. “I know that.” “Then why read them?” “Because sometimes it’s nice to believe people actually figure things out.”

These good hours that he/she would invest in a good read would leave a little smile on their everyday gloomy faces. After reading the whole series of Harry Potter I was aspired to be one of their kind. I even put the protective charms outside my room, to keep away all the evil and I believe it sort of worked. I grew up reading Shakespeare, Conan Doyle, Ruskin Bond, Agatha Christie, Jane Austen, William Wordsworth, John Green, Lemony Snicket and many such marvelous writers and poets. Though one may not be able to create stories or write poems, one can always entertain themselves by reading the enriching literature that lets you explore the world, without having to move your feet.
