I thought about all the times he pushed me down, stole my lunch, and mocked my clothes.
The anger burned, pushing down the pull. “I hate him,” I said, my voice firm. “He’s not my mate. I won’t let this happen.”
I turned to run, but my foot snapped a twig. Zion spun around, his eyes locking on me. “Gazzy?” he said, his voice curious. He sniffed the air, and his face changed, a smirk forming. “Well, well. What do we have here?”
“Stay away,” I said, my voice shaking. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
