Eva replied. “What so quick, so you're going to show up at the date right?” Nathalia asked. “Yes, even though I hate the idea of going I will go and eventually make sure to ruin the date. After all, I'm Evangline Carter.” Eva had a sly and mischievous smile on her face as she pushed a strand of her long hair behind her ear. “Hahaha……that's my Eva. You go girl.” Nathalia burst into a loud laughter as she cheered Eva on.

In my dazed stance, I didn’t even realize that Evan wasn’t alone. I recognized her instantly. Olivia Carter, Evan’s adoptive mother. This is not how I wanted the two of us to meet. I wished to impress her if the time comes in the future, apparently; the future is here. I swallowed hard, biting the inside of my cheeks. “Dr. Carter,” I began, trying my best to hide the fear blocking my throat - fear for Evan’s life. “My name is Cali Reed.” I took shaky yet composed steps towards her, throwing a glance at Evan. “Evan’s girlfriend.”

Eva paused as she didn't know his name. "You can call me Gil and you are?" Hearing the name Eva felt a chill on her heart. As per Gil, he didn't want to lie to Eva more and more. He was already done laying. "I asked your name, Miss..." Gil spoke out breaking the deep thought of Eva. "I am Eva you can call me Eva..." replied Eva. "Of course I will call you Eva," said Gil and laughed out loud. But Eva stared at him in confusion which made him stop his laugh and said "yeah that was not funny..."

Shawn turned to her, confusion etched across his face. "Did you know about this?" he asked. "No," Eva whispered. "It must have been in the invitation, but Eva never told me." And before she could utter more, Ava bounced onto the stage, flashing that killer smile of hers as she took the microphone. "Good evening, Ladies and gentlemen," Ava started off in a voice that was just too smooth, reeking of overconfidence. "My name is Ava Wadsley and I'm really honoured for the opportunity to be standing here today.”

He intentionally put forth a questioning expression stressing over Scarlet's name and the girl just smiled sheepishly introducing properly, “Lozenge….Scarlet Lozenge, Professor.” “You can call me Eva, Professor. I know my name is kind of difficult to pronounce giving the fact that I have if the name as my surname. And call her Scarlet. By the way, which subject will you be taking?” Eva initiated a conversation with Dankein and found Scarlet rolling her eyes at her. She shrugged her shoulders and focused on Dankein who looked at the girls replying,

She didn’t seem to like me that much. She even squeezed my hand so hard. She thought it would hurt me, but it didn’t at all. I just smiled at her. After that, I let go of my handshake and turned to Janea. “Hi, what’s your name?” I asked. “Jonea Rawling,” she answered calmly. “Nice to meet you, Evangelista.” “Just call me Eve. I just moved from overseas and came as an exchange student. Nice to meet you. Let’s be good friends!”

Eva glanced up, met his gaze without flinching. “What’s your favorite number, little miss?” Her mom opened her mouth. Eva beat her to it. “Four.” He lifted an eyebrow. “Why four?” “Because it’s the only number equal to the sum of its own digits squared.” He blinked once. She blinked back. Her mom choked on her wine. Her Aunt ducked her head, shoulders shaking with silent laughter. Her dad said, very calmly, “Eva, darling, can you pass me the bread?” She handed it over with a straight face. Then kept eating. The table paused. Then pretended it hadn’t happened.

“You must be Seliene. Ronan’s child’s mother.” They all knew. Before I could answer, she took my hand and led me toward one of the larger tents. Inside, the space was warm, filled with the soft scent of herbs and fresh linens. “You must be tired,” she said kindly. “Let me help you.” She offered me a basin of warm water and clean clothes. I sat on a stool, too exhausted to protest, my body aching as I washed away the grime and blood of the night. “My name is Evanna,” the woman said, watching me with kind but steady eyes. “You are carrying my grandchild.”
