If you have lived as long as I have, then you do not get surprised, let alone scared, for by now, you have almost seen everything that the eyes can see. Now, what do you define a surprise as? Well, I do believe it to be an unexpected and astonishing thing. In saying that, I can safely say I have just been surprised yet am shocked and then ultimately scared, for I did not expect to hear the words that are coming from Mirabelle’s lips.

That deep voice I could never mistake. “I hope you liked the surprise, little one. Or is this one too something you will not accept?”

I discreetly looked away, trying not to intrude on their private moment, but the image lingered, leaving me with a mix of emotions. The bustling place suddenly felt like a stage for hidden stories, and I couldn't shake off the surprise of discovering this unexpected connection right in the midst of my routine day.

I asked him with a pout. “A surprise is a surprise, baby girl. It becomes more special when it’s kept a surprise.” He winked and I groaned in annoyance. “You are mean.” I twisted my lips. “You won’t call me mean when you see your surprise, baby girl.” He said with a laugh.

Over time, we both forgot about it. But now, I pulled out my phone and opened the surveillance app. It was just in time to see what was happening in the study. As the image loaded, I felt the blood in my body freeze from head to toe.
