Mythological Birds Novels & Stories

I often saw the red Sentinel birds flying from Warlord’s chamber. They were sacred birds, saviors of the weak, sent to the King of Creatures. A mythical warrior king that no one truly new the location of. But the birds do. Why do they always fly to Warlord though? I knew Warlord wasn’t the King of Creatures. He was the most inhuman thing I’d ever seen. Callous and cold. Even more than Hawk. So what does he do with the birds? It dawned on me that perhaps he spelled them. Turned them evil for King Detry to do their bidding rather than that of the King of Creatures.

My body called out to it as if aware of whatever it was. Before it collided with me, it shot upwards into the sky where it burst open like a grand finale firework. Sparks rained down in showers, and in its wake was a beautiful phoenix bird. It looked just like the drawings in mythology books, but it was much more intricate and stunning. Its feathers were legitimately made from flames. My eyes fixated on its beauty, but my heart fixated how familiar it felt to me. It felt like home. “My dearest Warrior,” it sang out to me.
