Fixing an arrow in place, I take aim at one of the creatures, my heart pounding in my chest as I draw back the string. With a silent prayer, I release the arrow, and it finds its mark with deadly precision, striking the creature's heart with lethal accuracy. It lets out a piercing shriek before crumpling to the forest floor in a heap.

But the relief didn’t last long. Riley suddenly pushed me aside, and I turned just in time to see Orin back on his feet, a knife clutched tightly in his hand.
