After a while, Leslie stretched and yawned, feeling the weight of sleep. ​"Hey, I'm tired. Let’s go back, it’s really late," Leslie suggested. ​"You go ahead," Scarlett replied firmly. "I’ll head back later. I just want to stay a bit longer." ​Leslie looked at her with a mix of worry and resignation, but finally nodded and began walking back to camp. Scarlett was left alone by the lake, unaware that she was being watched from the other side of the water. ​Across the lake, Zafira and her sister Zahia—two gorgons, women with serpent tails instead of legs—hid in the shadows. Zafira, her serpentine body coiling around itself, watched Scarlett with a mix of surprise and overflowing rage.

I snatched it up and handed it to him, watching with held breath as he unfolded the page. His eyes skimmed Nunzia’s neat handwriting for several seconds before he hummed, “As it turns out, Elias is not at the castle. Word has it he’s planning on visiting the Underground tomorrow night.” I frowned, “The Underground?” Azrael leaned in, his lips curling into a smile. “Think of it as a magical nightclub.” “You mean brothel,” Amora purred. “Oh, lovely.” I sighed, “We’re going to another brothel.”

Faust chuckled and asked who the female was. "This is my marked mate, Sophia Parks, and the female that Randall is after," he explained. Faust eyed her with narrowed eyes and mumbled softly, "Her soul is very bright." The man invited them inside and Sophia scanned the large expensive decorated room. She went straight to the glass wall to look out at the Vegas strip below. Having never been to Vegas, she found it fascinating. The two brothers chatted amongst themselves. "Did Lucifer say you couldn't convert her yourself?" Faust questioned sourly. Faelon shook his head.

The silver flames burned high and steady. Faith stood in the center of the light, her hair blowing in the wind of her own energy. She looked like a goddess of winter. “Is that enough proof?” Faith asked, her voice echoing like thunder. Alpha Hera stood up, her eyes wide with shock. “The pillars are lit. The blood is true. Faith Nightshade is the Catalyst.” The crowd erupted into cheers, but Faith didn't stop. She walked toward the Council table. She reached down and pulled the smoking jammer box from its hiding spot.
