I stood behind the training yard fence that morning, arms folded, watching as Natalie gave out orders to a group of eager young female wolves. Her voice was strong and clear, like she knew what the hell she was doing. She moved with purpose, corrected forms, encouraged strength. She even gave them a stupid motivational pep talk….and they all listened! That…con artist. A few weeks ago she could barely stand. Now they were calling her Luna. My stomach twisted. One of the younger girls—Ayla—passed by me and muttered, “She’s amazing, isn’t she?” I forced a smile, suppressing the urge to strangle her for saying that. “Sure.”

People do it with me a lot. "I'm Nalayna. Nyla. And you look familiar but I'm pretty sure we haven't met before." She smiled and damn, she was fine. Like genuinely fine. The kind of fine that lives on your explore page with good lighting and an aesthetic feed and a following of people who just want to look at her face. But she wasn't giving off that energy in person, she was giving off something quieter and more careful and I couldn't figure out why she was nervous.

She cackled and intentionally stepped on my feet. I groaned in pain and managed to stand up. “Alpha finally dumped her for me, and now she's salty,” Tracy spat out. “Brianna, you have to see her face when he rejected her. What a silly goof!” She hissed. Brianna shrieked excitedly, flashing her hands in the air. “Wow, Lena, you are really done for. You can't keep a man, you lost your mom, and your father couldn't even live long enough to take care of us. You must be bad luck,"

Each one of them bowed their heads. “I present to you, the next Alpha of the Stella pack,” My Dad began, raising my hand, “Alpha Cato Loren!” The crowd burst into applause as I gazed out at them, my shoulders back and my chin high. “His Luna, Jessica Michaels. And his Beta, Elias Smith.” The crowd only grew wilder, their howls and whistles echoing through the forest. My parents and Blair stepped off the podium, leaving the three of us. Me in the middle, Elias and Jess on either side.

The young lady had a confused look in her eyes. "Did I scare you? I'm sorry, dear," She smiled at Caitlyn and rubbed her arm. Caitlyn gave a nervous smile. Herald cleared his throat. "You're one lucky girl, Caitlyn. The two meanest people in our family are being nice to you. You're lucky, I tell you." Madam Scarlett gasped dramatically. "Mean, you say? You call your mother mean? Herald!?" Herald scratched his neck. His lips gave a lopsided smile. "You're unbelievable! Caitlyn, " Madam Scarlett called as she turned back to Caitlyn. "Do not mind a word that rascal says, okay?" Caitlyn smiled and nodded.

Elaina sat alone beside the well that had shown her what was happening with the war back on earth with her head spinning. She wasn't able to wrap her mine around the fact Ezra had told her that she was a reincarnation born only for the sole purpose of finishing the war and defeating the darkness. Even though Rathial had told her something similar he hadn't mentioned the reincarnation portion of the story. It had left her feeling as if instead of being a person she was simple a tool used to a means of an end.

I could hear in my own words just how arrogant I sounded. “My name is Beta Devon, Luna.” He bowed his head once more. “Alpha, Beta, Luna… I feel like I have stepped into some cheesy Greek teenage fantasy drama! I didn’t want any of this, you know. The titles. The turning into a wolf the moment the full moon appears.” I couldn’t help myself. I was acting like a petulant child. But I just didn’t care. My life had taken a complete turn, and all I wanted was to get back on the tracks I was on. Everything just came bubbling out.

She is the kind of woman who dismantles, not disfigures. We enter the facility, and all the warriors are there waiting. They turn, and they all smile. I guess they are ready to welcome me into their group. Aiden, Thalia, Jonah, Nala, Rebel, and Austin are all there waiting. I really need to make time to get to know Nala. I hardly ever see her around. One of the warriors smiles and teases me, “Who knew we would have welcomed trouble in our mists?” I laughed, “There is much trouble to be had. Or fun…depending on how you look at it,” I replied with a wink.

A man followed the lady behind, and Luna Marion introduced them as soon as they approached. "This is my second daughter, Nali'a." "Hiiii!!" Nali'a pitched, surprising Rebekah with her over-the-top level of excitement. At least, it was better than Amaya's indifference. "My name is Nali'a. Meet my daughter, Amaya." She introduced, a wide smile on her face. Nali'a was intensely beautiful in an unusual way. Many people may have thought she was just an average beauty, but Rebekah appreciated her beauty differently.
