Against All Odds
I could feel him watching from the corners of my soul, but his strength, our strength, was slipping.
The bond tethered to Zeina and the child beat like a second heart in my chest, pulling at the edges of me with merciless hunger. I could feel their lives feeding off my marrow, drawing energy I didn't know I had, stretching my spirit thinner with each day. They were growing stronger, that much I knew.
