I asked, and he grinned at me.
“Nobody’s ever touching her,” he said. I understood his motives behind the training. Times have changed and assholes are everywhere.
“Thank you, Uncle Levi, for everything,” I said.
“Call me when you need help, anytime, Kai,” he said, and surprised the hell out of me when he hugged me. “Let’s go get lunch.”
We left the training center, walked up the street, and bought sandwiches. We ate as we stood outside the little deli and walked back to the training center. Kiran’s Navigator drove past us, and he made a U-turn and parked next to my Jeep after he saw us.
