He stopped the car near a small, overgrown clearing and got out, motioning for me to follow. My legs felt heavy as I stepped onto the uneven ground, the air cooler here, tinged with the scent of earth and decay. Before us was a gravesite, a single headstone standing solemnly among the weeds.
