Chapter 5: In which she is a picky eater. Back in high school, I was the total nerd and a teacher’s pet. Hence the name, Nerdy Savvy. I was the typical nerd with too much to think and remember in science and math than to care about fashion, though I never wore baggy jeans and tees. Thing is, even though I was a nerd, I had a GPA of 3.6 and I wasn’t the brightest person around. I didn’t come from money and I was more concerned about getting into a good college that losing my virginity to the top jock...which just so happened to be Nathan Synclair.

I back up against the locker behind me in fear as I stare at the three guys right in front of me. " It's the nerd," Dean says a smirk forming on his face as he bangs the locker beside me with his fists. " Wha..what are you doing? " I ask with a shaky voice as I manage to look him in the eyes. He stares at me for some seconds before laughing out with his friends. " Did you hear that guys, the nerd finally has the guts to speak " he says still laughing before moving close to me.

It's just a word anyway, an insulting word to make people down. "You're the one who's ugly, bitch." I said. Except for her, I'm sorry it's just an attitude. "I'm not a bitch! You ugly nerd!!" I don't really like it for those who will be left behind, but if they want to be angry, I won't be angry with them, it's simple.

Raymond immediately scooped her up into his arms like a baby, spinning her around like she was the love of his life, well she is. I stood there, frozen, my grip on the trophy loosening as humiliation washed over me. "Well, I guess Aurora doesn’t need a crown if she doesn’t even have a mate,"** someone joked loudly from the crowd. Laughter erupted again, spreading like wildfire through the room. Another voice chimed in. **"Maybe I should step in as her mate. What do you think, Aurora?"** The laughter grew louder, the mocking tones cutting deep into my chest. My wolf whimpered inside me, feeling the same humiliation I did.

I thought, kind of hoping he was, because approaching a loser was easier than a popular person. "Oh, that?" Betty started whispering. "He's not a loser, but in fact, the opposite! He's the school's asset, and about being lonely…" Betty sighed as if it was something tragic. "Actually, he used to have a lot of friends. He was the school's jock, but since he dated a cheerleader, he's become like this. The cheerleader is so possessive and mean, and her parents are lawyers, so he can't go anywhere."

I added, "you're a nerd. You probably already know half of it. Consider it a light evening." "A light evening," she repeated flatly. "You have a problem with that?" She looked at me for a long moment. Something moved behind her eyes: frustration, exhaustion, maybe both. Then she looked back down at the toys on the floor. "I'll do it," she said quietly. "I'll try my best." "Oh, you'd better do better than your best, Clara," I said. "Because if I fail, you fail." I’d make sure of that." And I meant it.

“Library? After school?” He made a face. “No way. Anyone could see us there. I’m not trying to have the whole team clowning on me for getting tutored by—” He cut himself off, but the damage was done. He didn't want anyone to know he was being tutored by me. The fat loser. The whale. I felt my already bruised heart shatter at the insensitiv e comment. “Right,” I said, my voice small. “Wouldn’t want anyone to know you’re associating with the fat whore.”

Oh God, they are no help. Well, fuck you too. So, I stick up my middle finger at them. That when their expression changes to a what the hell, and it went to a sad expression with what we do wrong. But I wanted to laugh because the look on their faces was priceless. Yeah, see that! This nerd, quiet, wallflower, loser, does not have a voice and she is not going to take anyone's shit anymore. I gave them another bird and I had a smile on my face.

“ What do you mean by a knock off nerd even?” “ I'm not adverse to dating nerds because they can be cute but he's case was more of a ripoff. He was a cheapskate, anything but intelligent and he was obsessive. Not the kind of obsessive you're thinking, I'm talking about stalker obsessive,” her face creased in disgust. “ Ouff,” I exclaimed already imagining the horrors. “ Just thinking about it makes me feel like I've aged an extra ten years in just a millisecond,” she pinched her nose bridge.

"I swear, ever since yesterday you've been in your own little world." "Sorry, sorry. What were you saying?" I replied, trying to focus on her instead of the lingering awareness that Liam might still be watching from across the hallway. "I'm talking about Noah. Even the nerds among us call him a weirdo," She said, lowering her voice conspiratorially. The words carried a hint of cruelty that made me uncomfortable, the casual way people dismissed others who were different.
