Hello again, guys! Like I said in my author's note, this book is a prequel to Wrenched. "I noticed them in the office earlier," Nathan said, his green eyes were gentle, and held no judgment; just a quiet, cautious curiosity. "They look like electrical burns.." I swallowed the lump in my throat and held my wrist tightly. "It was an accident," I said quietly. "A few months ago, before we moved here." "Must have been terrifying," he whispered. "A current like that... it doesn't just burn the skin, it scrambles the nerves. It takes a long time for the body to forget a shock like that."

The nitrogen extraction valves in the lower vault had been overridden by a manual breach-key, but the air remaining inside the core felt permanently thinned out, freezing, and thick with the taste of raw panic. On the monitors, the red warning lines had settled into a steady, mocking pulse. The market opening was exactly eight minutes away, and the systemic trap engineered by Rafe Morale Blackwood was locked into the global exchange lines like a cancer.

Embarrassed that she was able to understand what he said and intimidated by her demeanor he turned around and hurried inside his house. Lyn turned around and went to the dumpster. Underneath it she heard Jerky whimpering. She caked him out and picked him up. She examined him to make sure he wasn't hurt. He wasn't but he was shaking uncontrollably. Lyn cradled him like a baby and he's back to the trailer. She was livid with Bryce. He almost costed them their puppy again! She wondered if he would even of cared if Jerky had gotten badly hurt or even killed. She was going to give him a piece of her mind when she got back.

His jaw tightened as he spoke those words, causing her to shiver. Hazel knew it was a chance of lifetime. She would not get it again. She needed to clear her slate. So thus, she did. "I will never c-cheat on you." She hicupped. Pain flashed through her eyes as she spoke the next words, her past getting recalled before her eyes. "I-I.. H-he.. He r-raped me." Uncontrollable sobs racked her body. She never knew the words would be this difficult to confess. They had taken all her will power. They had taken all her strength. They had weakened her strength. They had injured her self esteem.

I could not walk normally because my whole body was hurt big time.
