They called out laughing in their sickening amusement, their taunts prodding through my mind as they chased after me. Their footsteps run light and fast through the forest.

As she’s about to leave the room, someone called. “Hey, I’m leaving the hotel. My car service is waiting,” she talked to the person on the other line. “I can’t wait to see you here. We’ve so much to see and talk about,” Noah said. Cela gave her room one final look. This is the place where she leaves her old self. “We wanted to go to a specific place and it didn’t matter if the road was rough and the journey was long. In the end, we found different places for ourselves but these places were the destinations where we were truly meant to go,” she said to herself. The fourth book begins at chapter 1 in Paris. Chapter: 9 ******* The frigid night pursued him relentlessly as he stumbled deeper into the dense forest. With each step becoming increasingly desperate. Tears streamed down his face, obscuring his vision. Determined to keep running despite the ache in his feet and the anguish in his heart, he pressed on. The fire within him consumed his body, leaving no room for rest. He yearned to vanish, to avoid ever having to confront them again. The sight of their pain, their tears, haunted him—they were his mates, and he had betrayed them.

I wanted to open my eyes to see what was happening, but I couldn't. I woke up in the middle of the night and knew it when I saw the hour hand pointing to three. I sat up lazily and couldn't see Elias, and the strange scene frightened me. I observed the room. I was afraid I wasn't awake, so I pinched my thigh. 'Not a dream.' I muttered.

Nivia POV On the third day, the plague touched skin. I knew it before I opened my eyes. The night had been restless. I kept waking, unsure if I’d dreamed the voices or if they were truly whispering over my bed. Every time I forced my eyes open, the room was the same: faint light from the corridor through the gap under the door, Rachel’s slow breathing, the outline of her body in the other bed. No wraiths. No gray ribbons of smoke. Just shadows.

CHAPTER 3 I bent my head, the weight of despair pressing down on me. I guess it was my fate to suffer like this, I thought, as tears rolled down my cheeks, hot and relentless. The forest around me was silent, save for the faint rustle of leaves in the cool night air. My knees dug into the damp earth, grounding me in my misery. But just then, the soft crunch of footsteps broke the stillness. My heart lurched. As if guided by some primal instinct, I sensed someone standing before me, their presence heavy and commanding.

Chapter 3: Forced Heat Three days of isolation had turned the safehouse into a pressure cooker. The power had flickered out during a brutal storm the night before, leaving them in the dim glow of battery lanterns and candles. Rain hammered the roof like bullets. Outside, the woods were silent again, no more suspicious vehicles but the air inside crackled with something far more dangerous than assassins.

The first night after the ceremony, the moon was as full as they’d ever seen, turning the world white and blue; the house glowed in it, the yard a washed ocean of pale, the inside lit with the flickering pulse of the fireplace where they’d collapsed in a heap at the close of chapter 57. Lizzy looked at the three, knowing their hunger suited the hour, and her own knotted through the chest, slow at first, then pounding.
