A nurse leaned close and said softly, "Mrs. Ziegler, you should try to sleep. Mr. Ziegler may be tied up for a while yet." Thalia nodded, stretching out a hand. "Bring me 'The Little Prince'." The nurse handed it to her. She tried to turn the pages but doubled over with a fit of coughing. She pressed the thick book against her thin chest and told the nurse to go rest. The nurse hesitated, worried, but Thalia assured her she felt all right tonight. Once the nurse left, Thalia read a few pages. Later, she pushed the covers back and slowly made her way to the vanity. Just a few steps left her gasping for air.

I shrugged and leaned against the kitchen island as Nightingale fed herself. I let out a yawn as I began to struggle to keep my eyes open. I looked down and saw that Nightingale was almost done with her bottle. I grabbed the bottle and held it so she could drink the remaining milk. When she was finished, I put the bottle on the counter and walked into the living room, where we had Nightingale's playpen. I fixed Nightingale by my shoulder and began to pat her back. After she let out a strong burp, I slowly rocked back and forth, almost putting myself to sleep. Once I heard Nightingale's soft snores, I put her down in her playpen and lay on the couch. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep

Hours later, a huge stack of books were brought over by the maid. “Is this everything you could find?” I asked “ Yes beta archer, that’s the entire history of the pack the nightingale had been at war with .” she replied me “ Alright, you're free to go back”. I told the maid to excuse herself from the room, to give me the privacy of searching for allies.

The floor-to-ceiling windows looked out over the New York skyline. She was surrounded by the most advanced medical equipment in the world. But she remained still, like a sleeping princess, completely unaware. A nurse approached me, holding a battered-looking music book. "We found this with her," the nurse said gently. "It was covered in blood. We cleaned it up." I took the book with trembling hands. Every page was covered in tiny, handwritten notes. It was all in Valentina's elegant script. "For my Alex. I hope this nocturne brings you peace after a long day."
