They went hunting. A few hours later, they returned with a boar. Jesse helped carry it as it was strung up on a pole. They took it over to a hole in the ground which had hot coals already in it. They set the boar on the spokes and left it to cook. The men sat around and started drinking. When they were ready to get the party started, they took Jesse into the house, making him remove his shoes.

Evan and Becky stood at the arbour’s entrance. The light emanating from the portal grew brighter as something moved through the portal itself and materialized there. When the light dimmed, the arbour they now overcrowded it with a black bear standing there on four paws with a knapsack clutched between his teeth. “Gemma, remove the mirror quickly. There’s no room in here for anything else to come through.”

I doubt that I will make it out of this before help arrives and gets rid of it. As I start to tremble, I remember something my mother once said, “When a bear runs at you, play dead. Roll up into a ball and they will smack you around a few times but get bored and go home. Then you run away and get help. You will have cuts and bruises from it, but at least you won’t be torn to shreds and dead.”

Nia's POV The world hasn't been unfair to me but it wasn't exactly fair either. I graduated college after years of brutally fighting against myself and my parents to ensure that I could do as they liked but also pursue my own happiness and today it would all be worth it. This man owned a Bible? My curiosity fully took over from this moment. I flipped it open. Maxine Jackson. I frowned a closed it. Who was she? My eyes slid back to the frame and I picked it up. It was a picture of a young woman, probably in her early thirties. She had thick black hair and blue eyes. Alexander’s eyes were a dark grey, but the resemblance was uncanny. This was his mother and that Bible perhaps, was hers.

She knew her nightmare will soon turn to reality and this nightmarish reality will make her life hell. Elena Singh was a 22 years old working woman like every normal women but was her life really normal like others? These are reserved only for our little rag-tag group. When Carson was little his favorite cartoon has something to do with bears, so he just gave me the nickname Moon Bear and called himself Sun Bear. Lachlan became Lock Bear, then Jase became Earth Bear, Arson became Air Bear, and Ransom became Death Bear. Weston came along after Carson's death so I deemed him West Bear.

Alpha Brentwood woke up from his sleep. He sat up, breathing heavily, and his body was so drenched in sweat it was as if he were walking in the rain again. It was then that he realized he was having a nightmare, a very dreadful one of losing his fated mate after showing her his beast. Feeling extremely relieved, he thanked the moon goddess that the nightmare wasn't real, as he didn't know what he would have done if it had truly happened. Alpha Brentwood looked up at the clock and saw it was midnight, and it was not nearly time for him to get to work.
