My heart thudded in my chest, and warmth tingled in my lady parts. “I can see you’re alright since you still have the energy to joke.” I huffed—I was so glad I didn’t stumble on my words—and I leaned away from him, pulling my hands out of his grip. Raphael didn’t say anything in reply. He just gave me a playful smirk and stood up. I got an unexpected glimpse of his huge thing poking at the air, and I quickly turned my back on him. How could I have forgotten that he was nude? “I’ll be back. Don’t get down until I come get you.” He chuckled at my reaction and walked back to the other wolves. I had forgotten about them. How could he act in such a vulgar way with his subordinates watching?

Standing in the doorway were five of the fiercest looking giants he’d ever seen. Raphael entered first, with the other Brethren close on his heels. Michael guarded the door while Raphael stalked over to the screaming thug on the floor. He picked him up by the shirt collar and looked him dead in the eye with a don’t-fuck-with-me stare and demanded, “Tell me where she is.”

Raphael began with a smile as he squatted down to his level,then grabbed his jaw harshly "I'm going to end you, right after I screw her in front of you if I ever see as much as your shadow close to her" He warned and his voice alone exuded an intense blood lust "It shall be the last sight your pretty eyes gaze upon before you die" He let go of Nathan's jaw but it seemed this pest had more threats to throw.

I caught him on a rooftop trying to spy on the Petters." I laughed. "Yeah. She caught me. Knocked me down. Told me to stay out of her way." Liam laughed. "Not much gets in her way if she doesn't want it. She tends to be closely related to a bulldozer."

He signalled for everyone else to be on standby. I edged closer moving way slower in case of any surprises. Everyone creeped up behind me. It's only when I stepped on a branch and almost gave myself a heart attack that I realised I wasn't being as stealthy as I should have. I turned to the others trying to tell them it was a false alarm when I heard a; 'Luna watch out!' Raphael jumped forward and I turned around in time to see him swipe away a knife directed at me. He knocked down the person in black and quickly pressed a gun to their head.

He’d been here the whole night. “Gunner, that fucker is here. Get to the cameras. Check for anyone that gave Genevieve too much attention. Anyone that took pictures of her.” Raphael’s voice was filled with rage and his hand even quaked against my back. His fingers dug into my flesh even with my dress in the way. “On it.” Gunner responded and I noticed him at the back of the room as he beelined it for the door, his face a mask of professionalism. “Do you think he’s—”

Now that I knew he wasn't here for a fucking dance, I felt all too exposed with him seeing me like this. “And how do you plan on achieving that? I still have less…” He checked his watch. “...than thirty minutes before you guard dogs come looking for you. Wouldn't want my money going to waste, would you?” He taunts, flashing his fangs wickedly. “You can take your money and shove it up your ass.” I retorted. I was fucking angry. Raphael had easily agreed without even properly checking to know who he was. As long as money was involved, all rational thoughts flew out of his head.

But then I saw him. Raphael. He stood in a courtyard that swallowed the night, a black silhouette against the indifferent sky. He held something black and gleaming in his hand. A gun. The moon picked out the gun’s metal like glass. The men with him stood like statues, easing back into the shadows as if they were props in his scene. He looked at me like a man who’d chosen an animal for sport. His smile spread slow and lazy when his eyes found mine. It was the smile that had haunted my nightmares since he first leaned close in his car: polite, amused, pleased.

And most of all; the way her eyes darted, searching, guilty, terrified. A slow exhale released me as I glanced at Raphael, who stood near the door, watching with the silent sharpness of a wolf who felt blood in the wind. “Watch her,” I muttered. Raphael didn’t so much as flinch, except give just a slight nod in recognition. “Don’t let her know that you’re watching her. If she shifts, exhales or so much as coughs suspiciously, I’d like to be informed.” I texted him. He replied quickly and when my eyes looked up to his, he nodded again.
