I rise and bow to them out of respect. "Please sit down Lunas. What we are about to discuss is a bit shocking." I gesture towards the couch big enough to seat six people. Alpha Damien and Alpha David sit with their Lunas and wait for me to begin. "Lunas, the Moon Goddess has told me that your pups are the next Blue Wolves and you'll be giving birth under the next full moon." I decided to just rip the band-aid off, so to speak, out of exhaustion from this whole thing. Their eyes widened with surprise. Joy flashed across their face for a moment and worry replaced it.

She tilted her head to the side after a few more moments of silence and raised her eyebrow at her son. “Really? All the descendants are elected?” Liam nodded, mouth full of the final bite of pancakes. “Yeah! Or, at least, it seems that way. I could be wrong, but I just noticed that. I didn’t think it would interest you this much, Ma. What’s up?”

I was unpleasantly surprised when I came downstairs. Sienna was standing in my kitchen looking at me like she wanted to kill me. She is my brother’s and Alpha’s best friend. She is 25, just like my brother and Alpha, and she has been hanging out with them since childhood. Now, she is clinging on to them like they are a lifeboat. She was devastated when she found out that neither my brother nor Alpha were her mates. That didn’t stop her from trying to become Luna. She is always around Alpha, proving herself and trying to convince him to take her as his chosen mate.

Eva sneers, unfazed by Frank’s warning. “I think she needs to know what you are doing to her, Frank.” Eva looks at me. “A Luna isn’t a girlfriend. She is the alpha’s mate and is meant to lead the pack alongside him. And bear strong, healthy offspring to continue the bloodline.”

I looked at Lunaya and she started back at me. “Does it?” I asked her, “I... I don’t know. It could be. I have never been able to decipher that part. But it makes sense that it is speaking of a place” she answered with a half nod. “There is no other pack that references the three phases of the moon. There is of course Crescent Wolf and Waning Wolf, but they only name one part of the cycle. Tri-Moon names all three. It would make a lot of sense” Roe said to Lunaya and myself.

Theresa looked closely at him and noticed that he was eating a mushroom. She squatted and examined him with interest as she looked at his transparent head which seemed to contain an image of the galaxy with millions of stars and nine balls which might be the nine planets rotating around a bigger orb which she guessed was the sun and was the major source of the light shining in its head. It was like the creature had the entire universe in its transparent large head.

I hesitate briefly. "Ethan's the only one still waiting." Luna's smile deepens, fond instead of amused. "You know," she says softly, "the Moon Goddess plans far ahead. Long before any of us are born." I look at her quietly. "Do you really think it's coincidence?" she continues gently. "That the people meant to support you and keep you grounded would end up exactly where you need them most?" She gestures lightly around the packhouse. "How do you think this life would've felt if you'd come here completely alone?"

The only sound you could hear wear their chants and the birds chirping. The leader of the group stood in the middle. She was in her early forties. She stood in the circle with her long black robe with thorns on it. There was a crown of daffodils flowers on her head and she stood in the circle holding a white lamp which was tied by the legs. She slaughtered the lamb at the neck as they chanted aloud. She took a calabash and allowed the blood from the lamb to pour inside. She inhaled deeply and dipped her finger inside the blood and put it in her mouth. She began to chant louder than others and knelt on the ground whipping her hair and rolling her eyes as if controlled by someone else.
