I frowned slightly.
“What do you mean?”
Vale crossed his arms, his expression calm but serious.
“People say things for a reason,” he explained. “Sometimes, it’s to make others believe a certain narrative. To gain sympathy. To shift perception.”
I remained silent, listening.
“And especially,” he continued, “when the person speaking has already done something wrong before.”
His words settled heavily. I looked at him, my thoughts beginning to stir once more.
“Just because he appears sincere,” Vale added, “doesn’t mean he is.”
