One Night, No Names
“That’s a crime against humanity.
The pillow bounced off Jason's shoulder and fell between us. Jason laughed, shaking his head. “You’re just afraid to try new things.”
“I’ve tried it!” I protested. “It tastes like confusion.”
Our laughter filled the room again, easy and unforced. For a while, they kept drifting from one ridiculous topic to another movie we hated, strange dreams we had, and childhood stories that grew more exaggerated every time we were told.
Then suddenly my phone rang.
The sharp vibration against the nightstand cut through the moment. I turned my head toward the sound, squinting slightly as the screen lit up.
