Seconds later, Noelle said, “I’m getting out.”
He turned to offer his hand, and he also supported her arms. “Careful.”
Her body was still trembling, probably not from the cold, but from the hard truth that had just struck her.
Noelle immediately sat on the bed. When she saw the soup, she grabbed the bowl but quickly retracted her hand. “Ouch.”
“It’s still hot,” Silas said. He pulled up a chair and took the bowl. “Here, let me help you.”
He scooped a spoonful of soup, blew on it to cool it down, and held it out to her.
