Fred comforted Nora for a few moments, and Nora knew that he was Edgar’s cousin, so she couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable. At that moment, footsteps sounded at the door. Owen and his wife came over, not looking good, especially his was worried. Because Renee was taken into custody! Nora sighed,he carefully placed Daphne’s hand on the quilt, and coldly spoke: "Mr Smith What are you doing here?Haven’t you and your family done much damage for one day.” Owen stared at Daphne. The girl lay still, as if asleep. Nora smiled bitterly, "The doctor said she doesn't want to wake up, Mr Smith, are you satisfied?"

Nora lounged on her plush couch, her phone pressed to her ear as she chatted with the person on the other end. Her voice was animated, her words tumbling out in a lively rhythm as she laughed and gestured with her free hand. The soft glow of the lamp beside her cast a warm light on her face, illuminating her bright smile and sparkling eyes. "Listen to me carefully, because I'm only going to say this once," Nora's voice was low and husky, her words dripping with an underlying menace.

Rachel repeated as she stopped midway from flipping a page on the cookbook. Nora heard their conversation and a realization immediately shot up in her brain. “NOOOO!” she protested.

As much as she was obligated to attend the launch, Nora's heart remained tethered to her daughter. Walking towards the break room, Nora dialled her mother's number, eager to hear her voice and find some comfort in her words. But then, she heard distinct sounds in the background, sounds that weren't coming from her mother's side of the line. Curiosity gripped her, causing her steps to slow as she strained her ears. Nora was sure she was hearing sex sounds. The sounds were unmistakable - heavy breathing, moans, and the rhythmic slaps of skin against skin.

“Once. And for all.” (Witch’s POV – Lena) The camp had gone quiet. Only the distant crunch of patrol boots over gravel broke the stillness. She headed around the pillar and towards the door where Darian and the council members had walked off. When I leaned to the side I saw that that was exactly where she was going and Mrs. Smith was holding the door open for her with a feral scowl. Once Nora was inside the room, Mrs. Smith closed the door and locked it with one of the keys on her massive keychain before she put it back in the pouch on her plaid dress. He wasn’t in the mood for games. The woman tilted her head, an amused smirk forming on her lips. "I thought I made that clear over the phone," she said. Her voice was low but steady, carrying a weight of confidence. "You want Audrey, don’t you?" Frank said nothing, his silence an invitation for her to continue. She took a slow step toward him, her boots clicking softly against the concrete floor. "Well, your situation and mine aren’t so different," she said, her tone measured. "My name’s Nora. I used to work as your uncle’s assistant—until Audrey had me kicked out."

Thankfully, the introduction was not something I promised, I just agreed with the idea at the time. Nora and I make our way to the meeting room. Nora takes notes and everytime someone asks how she writes as a former slave. She tells them she was taught by an angel. She won’t tell them it was the former princess because no one would believe her. Emmett and Iris join us. The meeting is long and boring and I’m thankful when it’s over.
