We’ll have to fight our way through the upper library again.” Serena stood between them, eyes still red from crying but glowing with determination. “I’ll open a temporary path. Stay close.” They ascended the stairs like ghosts of war. The Grand Archive Chamber’s dome shattered behind them as they left. The horde roared back to life. The upper library was worse than before. Bookshelves had been toppled like dominos. Pages fluttered through the air like dying butterflies. Infected swarmed everywhere

Damn it, this wasn't an action movie. I growled at something very rude, fasted my M19 harder, and sprinted down the sidewalk on this side of the street. I never let our prey out of my sight for a moment. It was almost like a slalom. Again and again I had to avoid people and then I almost ran into a shelter. Far beyond the familiar moons, a faint new light appeared in the sky. A small, pale moon slowly emerged from the darkness. Lyra stared in disbelief. “That’s not possible,” she whispered. There had always been twenty moons. Always. But now… there were twenty-one. The strange new moon glowed dimly, almost like a ghost hiding behind the others.

“Solitary confinement without documented justification and preferential treatment.” My blood goes cold. They’re not just trying to create chaos anymore. They’re building an actual case to take me down. And if I go down, who will protect Nicole? I hadn’t even realized when he walked into the room. My head was spinning, trying to process everything I’d just read. There were scenes I couldn’t even picture properly, acts I hadn’t heard of before. And I’ve read a fair share of steamy novels. But this one? It was something else entirely. Now, being caught with it, I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. It’s not like it’s illegal. I mean, I’m twenty plus. That’s old enough, right? I think someone mentioned that it was for twenty one plus. I’ve never picked up anything from that section, so I wouldn’t know. Maybe that’s where this one came from.
