She raised her brows. “Seriously?” He narrowed his eyes at her. “Yes, seriously! Ah yous should check it out too, come I’ll read it out to you, it’s great!” She clapped her hands in excitement. “No thank you, you know I don’t read romance,” He shook his head. “But it’s a unique one,” She protested, “A popular mystery/thriller writer is thrown inside her own novel! How cool is that?” “Hmm?” he raised his brows. “Did it pick your interest?” She wiggled her brows. “Ah, the guy has the same name as you, by the way,” She added.

He was waiting for me with his insecure eyes. I walked to him, and he forwarded his hand in my direction. Anxiety was reaching additional levels in my heart. My hand slid in his involuntarily, as I have done it numerous times before, surprising me. He rubbed my knuckles softly, trying to hold as gently as possible. I was getting nervous. He was serious, and why did he need my hand to hold him? Why, I even gave my hand to him to hold? He had filled my heart with a lot of questions. Is he going to reject me?

But he holds it and turns it around. He fits his fingers in between mine. I feel like my whole left arm is on fire right now. How could something so innocent be this intense? He turns it again, palm side up, and takes his other hand. Playing with my left hand with both of his. “You have dainty hands,” he remarked while he ran his forefinger along my palm. What is with this man and his fingers driving me insane? First, it was the ice cream, then the dressing room. Now he’s escalated to hand-holding?

he told me with a hand extended for me to take. I looked at it for a moment before slowly placing my hand on his. His hand was powerful, calloused, and large, but what I loved about it was how gently he held my hand. With muscles like his, you would think he wouldn't know the definition of gentle, but he clearly does. The warmth that came off his hand warmed my numb skinny fingers in an instant. I was sad when his hand let go of mine. I was tempted to reach out and grab it again.

“I’m not asking you to trust me. I’m only asking you to hold my hand for a second.” Her eyes fell to his hand once again. Nervous. She had never held a guy’s hand for so long. The last time she’d done it was during her last moment with Riqui, and never after that. But now, he was the first man in the world who’d asked her to hold his hand—quite a strange approach for his unknown intentions. Her mind kept on telling her not to, but looking at his eyes seemed to reveal the truthfulness behind his words. Larice slowly reached her right hand forward, placing it over Raeherys’ palm—gentle—like how an autumn leaf would touch the ground. The warmth of his hand made her realize how cold she had been

Her hand was jerked back in mine but I held it tightly. I turned to find her eyes wide with shock and fear. Behind her, another man held her other hand. She was stuck between the two of us. Behind him, was a younger version of Adea. She was pretty but was nothing compared to My Princess. This younger version of her held onto the mystery man’s arm. My gaze trailed down his arm to his hand that still held hers. I growled. I don’t care who he is. I don’t care who she is either. No one touches Adea. No one touches what’s mine. The asshole didn’t budge.

Guards stood, their swords and weapons out. “Everybody out,” Dante growled, and they all ran out. “Are you okay?” Damien asked, holding my cheeks. I looked down, and I was clutching the torn paper tightly. “We tried to remove it from your hand. What happened?” he asked, worriedly. I breathed out, opening my palms, and Damien collected the paper. “We need to find the book Damien,” I said, sniffing, as I can still remember those emotions I just felt. “What happened?” Dante asked.

Relax Charm…this is not real, this is just a game, remember? But…why did my brother let this guy hold my hand. I can’t even do holding hands with my friends because they are so small. Just kidding…I just don’t want holding hands. Alcohol is just really expensive now and I don’t have protection for the disease they might infect me. Just kidding again. I wrapped my fingers around it, gently, carefully, holding the one part of him that I could. His hand was cold. I held it anyway. And I waited.

Though It might be too late feeling the heat. At least I won’t have to do it myself anymore. It’s already better. “Don’t you worry, Your Empress.” Maddie goes before it happens. She’s so quick that I don’t catch it until the warmth of her fingers. It’s a hand. Her hand. She's holding my hand? I am nearly blown away by just that. No one ever wants to touch me, let alone hold my hand. But little do I know I am in for an even bigger surprise. She's smiling so wide her eyes disappear.
