It used to be such a warm place, now it was spoiled by the attack and the abduction. Finally, my hands made their way to the pile of maps that I had seen Alastor, Damian, and Orion pouring over for days and days. Some of the maps were new, but many of the maps were extremely old, to my surprise. The older maps were drawn on pieces of parchment that were turning brown with age and fraying at the edges. I gently stacked the maps up, just straightening them into a neat pile to make them look better.

There were hundreds of books on the capital city and going through them all was taking quite some time to find any maps. Leanunya continued her search throughout the day and back into the night. It was close to the middle of the night when she finally discovered a book with a map with the layout of the city excluding the castle. She smiled and started to study the map sitting on the floor near a lamp. She suddenly sensed danger and without thinking rolled to the side dropping the book. She looked up to where she had been sitting and saw Wolferan. She bounced to her feet and ran for the nearest exit which was the window. She heard a curse from behind her even as she jumped through the window.

The handwriting was older. More delicate. Across the top were six words. For the One Who Remembers Everything Julian’s heartbeat quickened. He slowly unfolded the page. Instead of writing… It contained a map. Unlike any he had ever seen. No countries. No oceans. Only a constellation of stars connected by thin golden lines. At the center of the map was a single symbol. A cedar tree. Beneath it, written in faded ink, were three unsettling words. The First Sanctuary Julian stared at the page in silence.

"The water didn't touch the pages." Devashish carefully opened the singed cover. The pages were made of thick parchment, covered in intricate blueprints of the city above, overlaid with red ink lines that formed a completely different map. It wasn't a map of roads or buildings; it was a schematic of energy currents, tracking the movement of time through specific geographic points along the Ridge.

The strange symbol that appeared on Niru’s right eye before they took a step into the unfamiliar land where they are currently at came out again- The same symbol that changed the color of his right eye… Glowing in red, it emerged out of nowhere, in an unrecognized shape. ‘’Here it is again, Niru… the symbol from before…’’ ‘’Maybe I can change the text into something I can understand…’’ And the map changed, the image became simpler, its text turned much clearer that Niru is now able to understand it. ‘’According to the map, if we go this route, we will see a city gate… beyond the gate is the city of August. ‘’Gate? Darius was lying on his stomach nearby, flipping through a stack of old maps, though from the bored expression on his face, he might as well have been reading a soup recipe. Luka sat in the armchair opposite Theoden, one leg crossed over the other, nursing a cup of herbal tea. Razes' eyes followed a red line on the map. It ended at a symbol that looked like a crescent moon.

I said, already thinking of our next move. "Wait, Max," Shane said, stopping me from hanging up. "I have something else for you. I found a map that your mother had left for you. I'm sending it to you now." I felt a lump form in my throat as I waited for the map to d******d. When it finally appeared on my screen, I felt a wave of emotion wash over me. It was a map of the surrounding area, with several locations marked. I recognized some of them as spots and places River had already marked down and some parts we had passed and had deemed unfit for construction, however this map gave a general overview of the entirety of the boarder beyond New Eden, it would make our work a lot easier and faste
