I lathered up the shampoo and conditioner as the hot water poured down my back. I knew I wasn’t trapped here anymore but I still didn’t even have a key to this place, I couldn’t even walk freely between the halls without Zac with me. I sighed as I exfoliated my skin wondering if now that he knew who was behind the attacks if things would change. I rinsed the conditioner from my hair I loved the smell it was ylang ylang and jasmine.

Two basins sat under the large mirror and warm sunlight filtered in through the frosted windows bathing everything in natural light. Scrambling to the shower, Thalia was surprised to see Ms Thorton was right. There were a range of shampoos, conditioners, body washes and anything else Thalia could think on the shelves for Thalia to choose from as she washed. "Listen, I'm not in the mood for your brattiness. So just spill it." She sighed and looked at him. Caden was looming over her and she once again got wafted with his smell. She wondered what he put on to get the eucalyptus smell. Or maybe that was his shampoo and conditioner. If that was it then she would have to buy. But then again it may not be good for her hair. It's heavily scented and she would always associate those with cheap companies trying to entice customers when they have really bad ingredients in their products. It could be that the shampoo would have sulfates and she only used them once a month. So maybe she would buy it for that use.

When I realized it was Enzo, I asked, “What are you two doing here?” “I’m a regular here— unlike him,” Enzo replied with a smirk, gesturing with his lips toward Andy. “Is it wrong to visit Ms. Universe of—uhmp!” Andy didn’t get to finish because Enzo quickly covered his mouth. “Just take our orders, Nel,” Enzo said, so I nodded and gave a small smile. I rushed to the counter to get their order. “Nel, what shampoo do you use? Rejoice? Pantene? Palmolive? That hair’s looking fab!” my coworkers teased repeatedly.

Five years of showers that smelled like bleach and despair. Never again. As I reached for the shampoo—a bottle that promised “silky, goddess-like locks”—I couldn’t help but laugh. “Silky locks,” I snorted. “Let’s aim for ‘not resembling a bird’s nest,’ and then we’ll talk.” I scrubbed my scalp until it tingled, rinsed, and repeated like a woman on a mission. By the time I was done, the water had turned downright gross. I pulled the plug, watching the murky evidence of my prison life swirl down the drain.

“I only have two-in-one shampoo.” “Goddess, you’re such a guy,” I tease but make a mental note to raid my mom’s heavily stocked bathroom for her good shampoos and soaps tomorrow before the memorial. I pluck the single bottle off the shower shelf and gasp, holding it up to him. “Cole, this is three-in-one. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash? That’s worse! Who are you?”

“Do you need anything else?” Jackson left. Left without a single glance back at him. Wren was too uncomfortable to enjoy the warm water anymore. He grabbed the first bottle. The shampoo was scented. He wrinkled his nose in preparation for too much, too chemical, too artificial… but to his surprise it was lightly fragranced with lavender. It wasn’t harsh on his nose at all. He found himself breathing in deep as he did his best to scrub his hair clean. The blindfold wouldn’t come out. Not when he rinsed the shampoo out. Not when he scrubbed and rinsed the conditioner. His hair was wound tight around the material. Wren wasn’t going to be able to get it out alone.

Almond blossom. Another. Pomegranate silk. A third. Coconut sunrise. “This isn’t hygiene,” I muttered. “It’s witchcraft.” Still, I climbed in. The water was perfect. Too perfect. Heat wrapped around me like a sin I’d pay for later.

Being this close, I can’t help but notice the unique scent that clings to her, a personal fragrance that’s unmistakably hers. The smell of her shampoo is rich and enticing, a delightful blend of sweet vanilla and exotic pomegranate, intertwined with a subtle undertone of the alcohol from the night’s festivities. It’s a striking combination, leaving a lingering impression in my senses.

I wave my hands. "Girl!" She exclaims, "Mon Dieu, relax baby! I'm just kidding with you," She moves over to my seat, wrapping her arms over me. I chuckle nervously. "Don't laugh but, I use the Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner," I tell her. "Why would I laugh? Is there a joke I didn't catch?" "I don't know, it's a cheap brand, nothing fancy, just does my hair good enough I guess," I pout.
