Two hours later in the waiting room, Sadie prays for healing and news soon while Elizabeth wraps her arms around her mothers as Sylvia fights the urge to throw up. The three women wait for what seems like an eternity as others clear out after learning about their loved ones. A few minutes later, Elizabeth goes to grab coffee while Sylvia curls up against Sadie on the grey couch by the only window in the waiting room. Because the tone had changed. Not discovery. Confirmation. Evelyn’s voice dropped. “Explain.” The woman didn’t look at her. She looked at Damian. “You weren’t meant to forget everything.” Damian’s jaw tightened. “I didn’t forget. I was never told.” “That’s not how this works.”

I kept my gaze on Nyssa, and that was why my eyes narrowed when I caught five women walking straight towards Nyssa; the Crescent Court. What were they doing here? I wondered, The moment I spotted the women, I stopped paying attention to the alpha. He kept talking, but I didn’t hear a word. Instead, I spread my senses out, and tried to catch whatever Nyssa was saying. I couldn’t hear her, there were far too many wolves here, and all of them were interfering with our talks. Instead, all I could do was watch as the women approached her and began to speak. There was a way with which they carried themselves, with pride in their steps that made it seem as though they were better than anyone else.

Slate's POV---- I looked back down the stairs searching for the woman who smelled like cedar and honeysuckle. "We have to keep our distance for awhile until we can get them alone to explain to them what is happening," Minerva whispered beside me. I glanced at her to see a smile plastered on her face but eyes searching for her mate. I took another look across the bottom floor when I caught the eye of a beautiful human. She had blonde hair and piercing green eyes. She had a simple lavender dress that hugged all of her curves just right. "Mate," said Erebus.

“Probably because they’re mostly written by women who’ve experienced rejection in real life, and they write their dreams of becoming powerful.” “But then they almost always take the bastard who rejected them back,” I countered. “That’s the mate bond. It’s how it works. Besides, I’m not reading a werewolf novel at the moment.” Nate and Kam had come in by then. “So, what kind of novel are you reading?” Nate asked. “It’s a forbidden love story,” she answered.
