The caller ID showed an unknown number and out of curiosity , she quickly answered the call. “Hello?” Natasha said. There was no reply. “Hello? Who is this?” she repeated. Still, there was only silence. Natasha felt nervous. “Is someone there? What do you want?” No answer came. “This isn’t funny. If you have something to say, say it!” Two minutes passed in silence, then the call ended. Natasha stared at the phone, confused and uneasy. She tried calling back, but the line didn’t connect. A message said, “The number you have dialed is not in service.”

It would not do if she could not fulfill it. “Why did I take this stupid card out today? I would’ve brought the 8 million dollars one if I’d known,” Neve muttered in pretense and waved her phone. “It’s fine. I’ll go make a call and have someone transfer more to the card!” Slipping out of the finance room with the excuse of wanting to grab a smoke, Neve wasted no time in locating an empty spot and called Matthew. But as she tried over and over again, the call would not go through. Matthew was not one in the habit of switching his phone off!

No matter how much you tell me to hide, I will never forget.” I sighed. “It’s not my fault you’re a mess. I did what needed to be done. And I’d really love for you to keep remembering how stupid you were. Don’t call this number again if you don’t want me to come find you, and you know it won’t take me anything.”

Because he wasn’t sure who the caller was, he held the phone to his chest instead of his ears and remained mute. “The man is not responding, he has refused to prepare the chemicals.” The deep and hoarse voice echoed through the phone. “Who are you?” Jack asked, trying to make sure. “Double 0 S…” He answered. Double 0 S was code they used in identifying themselves. “Force him.” Jack yelled realising it was one of his men on the phone. “We have done everything we can. If he doesn’t respond I’m afraid we will not be able to bring them in today.” The caller stated.

Chapter 219 DARREN The call came through a number I didn't recognize, which was itself a kind of message, because the council didn't call from numbers I recognized. They called from numbers that existed for exactly one purpose, used once, discarded, untraceable by design. I almost let it ring out. I don't know why I didn't.
