Nyx’s wolf is smaller than the yellowish wolf Beta Jerome got. However, he can sense a stronger force coming from Nyx’s wolf. Both wolves bared their teeth, showing the prowess it holds.

Sebastian and Fae echoed in surprise. “What?” “This isn’t the deal we had, Sebastian! Do you want me to put a curse on you?” Nyx threatened, her eyes turning completely white, causing Sebastian to back away in fear. “Nyx, I swear I didn’t know. I thought…” “Thought? She isn’t just a witch; she’s from a powerful lineage!” Nyx roared. Fae sighed. “Am I the only normal person in this pack? Can you all give me a break!” she yelled, rubbing her temples as she walked away.

“Zuzu, go to Dad now and tell him I’m teleporting Vaheed to the vaulted dungeon, and have Marlena wait there.” While Zuzu whistled and vanished into thin air, Nyx raised his tuft tail and curved the tip in Vaheed’s direction. Battle-ready, he stood sideways between me and my guardian. Nyx splayed the tuft on his tail into fine white neon lines, his orbs electrified. His strong forelegs lowered his body to prowl at his prey while his rear was raised.

Wrong. “What a pretty leash,” she said. “Wrapped around both your throats.” I felt Gabriel tense. I felt it through the bond like a pulled wire. “Careful,” I said. “You’re standing on a cliff with an alpha who hates metaphors.” Nyx laughed. “I like her.” “People who say that usually try to kill me.” “Only a little,” she said. “And only if you bore me.” She walked a slow circle around the telescope, fingers trailing over cold metal. “You smell like a curse,” she said lightly. “And old gods.”
