Unlike normal wolves, Nyx was massive, nearly the size of a purebred Alpha wolf, and her coat was a striking, midnight black with a single, snowy-white patch directly over her chest. But the most defining feature was her eyes vibrant, glowing violet. "Goddess, that feels amazing," Nyx howled silently in my mind, her paws digging into the dirt. She took off like a shot.

Nyx dressed in black and memorized the route. The sublevel smelled like metal and cold stone. The room she entered was smaller than the one she’d found before, and intimate, deliberate. “I’ve been questioning the same thing. But honestly, I haven’t caught Alpha energy. Alpha like qualities, yes, but not energy.” At that moment, Damaro and Valeno walk up. “She is not an alpha, but the qualities she has comes from you Aiden. Absorbing people’s gifts is not the only thing that Nyx can do. She absorbs qualities from her mate. Rapid healing and strength are Alpha like qualities. Nyra followed, her frost magic coating the earth in thick sheets of ice. I raised my hands. Power flared from my chest, a pulse of white-hot lunar energy. The sky responded. Lightning rained down, arcs of silver fire crashing into the enemy ranks. They screamed, scattered—burned. Behind them, walking calmly through the destruction, came the goddess. Nyx. She was not of this world, and she made no effort to blend in. Her skin shimmered like obsidian dipped in blood. Her eyes were pits of endless night. Her crown burned with bone-white flame.

A soul-shattering, heart-wrenching scream. The king turned to her, his golden eyes ablaze. “You will beg for your life now, mate,” he said, his voice eerily calm. “Kneel.” Nyxara raised her head. Blood splattered her face, but she didn’t waver. “My name is Nyxara, daughter of Eldrin the protector,” she declared. “I am the strongest warrior this realm has ever known. And I will not kneel to a monster.” His face twisted with fury. The embarrassment, the challenge—it was too much.
