"Aunt Nyx is here. She is going to play games, make pancakes, remember how she does the funny shapes? She will stay with you and I'll be back before you know it. Then I'll stay with you for as long as you want.” For a long moment, she just stares, searching my face like she is memorizing it. Then her grip loosens and she nods in understanding. I hug her one more time then take her hand and head downstairs together. Nyx scoops her up at the bottom, distracting with a goofy face that pulls a ghost of a smile from Lily. "Ready for chocolate chip towers?" Nyx asks, and Lily nods against her shoulder. I blow a kiss and slip out the door before I lose it.

God, I love it! I raise my chin with pride. “Sure. I’m your mate. You’re out of contact. I should do something for the pack!” Speaking of which, I sit up straight and look at him with a serious face. “What exactly happened last night? You were out of contact for the whole night!” At my words, Nyx averts his gaze and clears his throat. This is weird. Something must be off. After seconds of silence, Nyx moves his lips. “It’s a very long story…”

With the moon above them, they enjoyed theirselves. “Okay, you won. I am already wet and it's getting cold.” Nyx wrapped her own arms around her. “I understand. I'm sorry I don't have a jacket with me. I should have anticipated it.” He beamed a smile. He just thought Nyx is going to be tough but it turns out he just needs a little push to win her back. “It's fine. Thank you for tonight. Good night, Alpha Mikhail.” Nyx abruptly planted a kiss on his cheek. Before Alpha Mikhail could react, she stormed out of his sight.

"It's boring. There's nothing to do. Bray wants me to control my changing but I can't, besides a barely shift." I stare out the window for a second. "Give it a few more days okay? Do that for me? Besides, you can go on the internet. Just, stay off F******k and twitter or anything else that people know you're on." It felt awkward giving advice to someone who'd been here longer than me. Mikki nods mutely. She grabs a few biscuits and heads towards the stairs. "Night." "Night." I sigh before putting the biscuits away and turning off all the lights. My bed greets me with warm arms as I crawl into it and before I know it I'm asleep.

‘That cannot happen’ was the thought that crossed his mind. “That makes me nervous. Did you tell them we’ve met?” Nyx shook her head. “I wanted to have some moments like this. My family can be quite strict.” There was a faint blush in her pale face, and he found it ridiculous. How could a person like her become a celestial guardian?

Nyx is already used to getting things the hard way, so seeing someone that is willing to do whatever to get her is a very different vibe from what she always gets, which is why she would never understand Leon. She picked up her phone from the table again and started going through her call logs. After scrolling for a while, she had no other choice but to drop the phone back on the table. She decided to keep her dignity because she still had pride; she wouldn't let him steal that away from her. Nyx realized that calling him now would only make her seem weak, so she didn't do it. Instead, she stood up from the diner and headed inside her room so that she could get a little rest.

“I shall try.” “Try harder,” Weaver hissed. She then looked across the forest and pointed with her right index finger. “You think it wise to see Drust in this state? With the Spartan inside you?” Tancorix rested back on her right hip, hand on her waist, standing like a cubby Greek. “Oh, I’m dying to see him up close.” Cracking her knuckles, Weaver showed her own strength as she faced the direction where Drust must be. “He plays games with me . . . us. We shall see whose magick is stronger.”

Nyx was quiet for a long time. "East wing," she said finally. "Secured room. You tell us everything — his network, his contacts, his routines. You don't go anywhere alone and you don't make contact with anyone outside this fortress without my explicit approval." She held Lyra's gaze. "Lie to me once and I handle it myself. No council." "I know." "We clear?" "Yes." Nyx picked up the folder. Walked out. I looked at Lyra for a moment. She looked back. Tired and clear-eyed and not performing anything.

And had run the moment they heard me say the name the Moon Goddess had given me. I set the crystal down and went back to the corridor. “Nyx,” I said through my link to the Joined. “I need the fortress sealed. Every exit, every window, every tunnel. Nobody leaves. Do it quietly and do not tell anyone why yet.” “Done,” she said immediately, and I felt her attention split as she began directing people through her own communication network without breaking her part of the channel. Nyx had always been able to hold more than one complex task at a time. It was one of the things that made her irreplaceable.

Nyx wrapped me in a hug, my face buried in his chest as I continued to cry. "You need to stay with me, so I can protect you," he mumbles softly into my hair. I shook my head. "I can protect myself, but you're correct, I need a place to stay," I mumble sadly, thinking about all I'd lost. Nyx looked up at the sky above my shop and my eyes followed. A dark inky smoke curled around and became what looked like the face of a very unattractive evil woman. Nyx growls and holds me close, and we appear back in his home.
