Crossing The Line

Crossing The Line

Ethan said, stubborn, but the edge in his tone didn’t mask the hesitation. “You already did. That’s why your answer’s wrong,” Marcus said simply, like the truth of it should have been enough to make Ethan submit. Ethan froze, pen hovering over the page, and for the first time in the session, really looked down at what he’d written, letting the words and numbers sink in. Slowly, deliberately, he crossed something out, admitting, even if only to himself, that Marcus had been right. “…okay, that one doesn’t count,” he muttered, almost under his breath, almost unwillingly.

Married in Her Name

Married in Her Name

Olivia had been afraid for herself, but she had still thought of the women whose records had already been used against them. Near the lower third of the page, one name is not hidden completely. Or rather, it had been visible once. Someone has crossed it out so violently that the ink nearly tears through the paper. A thick slash. Then another. Then several more, dark and furious, obliterating the name beneath. Only the first letter remains partially visible at the edge, not enough to identify. The violence of the crossing-out feels different from redaction. Redaction protects. This punishes. Leah’s stomach turns. “Who crossed that out?”

The Line I Shouldn't Cross

The Line I Shouldn't Cross

I walked over to the long line of glass mirrors hanging above the perimeter sinks, my hands trembling as I reached down to fix the hem of my twisted skirt and pull my oversized sweater back down over my hips. I looked up at my reflection, my breath catching instantly in my throat. I reached down, my shaking fingers pulling the waistband of my skirt slightly to the side. Right there, forming directly over my pale hip bone, was a dark, deep purple mark. It was shaped perfectly by the heavy print of Leo's fingers, a brutal, undeniable brand burning into my skin where nobody else in this school would ever see it.

comes a strong distraction, Alpha Andrews sister, the humblest person she’d ever seen. “yes what’s up?” Charlie asked her hand constantly on her backpack. “I saw you ogling that wierdo” Charlie looks at her, her stare making Camilla cringe, and move few steps backward. “I don’t think he is a wierdo” she dismisses Camilla’s words. “yeah whatever” Immediately they both come out and get hit by the sun, they squint, the immediate effect of the sun making them cover their eyes with their hands. “urggh I hate the sun” says Camilla, her perfectly manicured fingers making a circular movement around her stomach.

I turn to see Acre, Sky, my mother and father and grandma Beth all standing around us, the latter three had burn marks around their necks from where the silver collars were, "Ocean, hold tight to Desert, only you can channel her powers, the rest hold hands" We all do as Lanna has instructed us and Lanna starts whispering words that sound like a chant as we stood watching the battle before us, the noise starts to dim, a light above the battle starts to decend and eventually we can see or hear anything, until a sweet voice hums a tune, calming us, then it whispers, "You have done so well, the bond of family is strong, remember to be as one",

"The rumor concerning CRUZ company...you didn't hear it?" "CRUZ company? I didn't hear about that, what was it about?" "CRUZ company was accused of producing fake designs and forging other companies' designs of paintings. It was all over the news, Clara." There was a hint of shock and surprise in Ella's voice.

The Rogue's Forbidden Luna

The Rogue's Forbidden Luna

That was when I saw it. A circle burned into the ground. Not fire. Not fresh. Old - older than the clash at the summit - but bright still, as if the soil remembered being hot. The ring was as wide as a house. In its center, a symbol had been cut so deep the dirt could not forget it: a crown with three prongs, broken in the middle, the break stitched with a crooked line of smaller cuts. Kael’s voice was flat. “He’s marking his path.”

My marriage was for money, his for vengeance

My marriage was for money, his for vengeance

Only memory, rebalanced. "Three roads," he whispered. She nodded. "And others will follow." They didn't need to know where any of them went. Not today. Today, it was sufficient to know they had walked in. --- 7:11 AM — Sector R, Boundary Weave Crossing The crossing was not broad, but it was tiered: silkcord braids along tension beams, sewn with bits of flags originally flown for district designations. Those now indicated but change. Renewal. Resilience.

I think this one was the best I’ve read in the series. I also saw the writer’s development improvements. I’m sad I finished it already but excited for the next ones to come :) good job author thanks for the amazing read and the laughs and tears this book brought ...🩷

I can’t choose a favorite anymore. It’s just too good. This was the book I enjoyed most, 1) because I relate a lot to the FL (character wise) and 2) because it seemed like both leads were communicating a lot better than in the other books, which leads to less frustrating misunderstandings.
