No Escape From Them
My aunts, Jessica and London, kept talking to me sweetly, completely changing the subject and easing my anxiety by insisting that we all go on a massive shopping spree sometime.
Before I knew it, it was time for them to leave. They began gathering their coats, wrapping me in warm, lingering hugs as they bid their goodbyes. "We'll see you very soon, June," Aunt London promised with a wink before they finally left the mansion, their cars roaring down the driveway.
June? Who’s June…Me?
Exhaustion settled deep into my bones. I turned to my parents, offering them a quiet, weary smile.
"Good night, Mom. Good night, Dad."
