Rosa turned from the stove and froze. “Madre de Dios,” she murmured, eyes widening. “You look terrible, child.” Before I could speak, she crossed the room and pressed her cool palm to my forehead. “You are burning up.” “I’m fine, Rosa,” I said quickly. “You are not fine. You are sweating and cold at the same time.” She touched my cheek gently. “Sit down.” I obeyed and sank into the chair. She moved around the kitchen with calm efficiency, filling the kettle and adding dried hibiscus petals to a small pot. Deep red color soon bloomed in the steaming water.

Martinez's POV The sweet, heavy scent of Seraphina’s floral perfume inside the dark foyer made my blood turn to ice. My grip on Rodah tightened instinctively, her soft body pressed hard against my chest. I scanned the shadows of the main hall, my hand already resting on the grip of my Glock, but there was no sound. No ambush. Just the lingering stench of a ghost who had already probably left the scene.

It moved farther and farther from the cemetery on the hillside, and farther away from all the love and hatred buried beneath Sicily's soil. Half red, half white. Put them in perfect order around Abigail's bed and ordered another bouquet of 101 roses to lay on the bed. It's just perfect. The strong scent of roses is suffocating, but it looks awesome! God helps the people who will clean after, though. And not only this, but I scattered rose petals from the front door to the bed. Too cheesy, you may say, but I find it romantic.
