Wiping the tears from his face, Adelard smiled and picked up the book. He also had read this book many times and was also surprised each time by all the wisdom that was on each page. And now, just now, holding this book in his hands again, Adelard took it as a sign. After all, this book had saved him more than once, giving him new hope. After all, the words spoken by his grandmother had more than once helped him understand something or make the right decision.

This book is dedicated to Bukade—my awesome friend who's helped me very very much in the creation of this book, and Favour Edem, too—my first love, for taking her time to explain stuffs about Werewolves, and Vamps, and Witches to me. Zoe stared at the book, her fingers hovering over its worn cover, tracing the cracks in the leather and the faint symbols etched into its spine. It felt… alive. Not in a way she could explain, but there was something ancient about it—something that pulsed beneath the surface, waiting to be uncovered. Inside the house, Joe was busy organizing a fresh stack of books that had just arrived from the printer. This sounded so familiar but, at the same time, so strange. I didn’t have time to think, though. The pain slowly disappeared together with the lighting, and somebody’s voice was floating in my mind.

I have no one, no one cares enough about me but that's okay and this is why I suggest getting yourself a therapist, a good therapist. I did not make eye contact with Laura but only focused on Margo who uneasily gave me a small hint of a smile as she turned the phone on almost as if she was reassuring me. There it was and I prepared to speak so somehow Laura could not be hurt from all of this.

Only if I had known my soul would have been sold for nothing, I would have ended it. The room hadn't changed a bit all these years. Same dark walls that made the room intimidating and the absolute perfection in the way it was organized just as its owner, hiding all that evil just barely underneath the surface, simmering and waiting for the perfect time to strike its prey. I repressed a shudder and took a seat waiting for him to notice my presence in the room. He was writing in a journal on the desk, I had always wondered what he wrote in there, the number of people he killed, or the latest mission he accomplished?
