comes on, the light comes from Valerie's bag " did she leave her fucking phone here ooh my God Val" I said bringing out the phone, surprisingly it's not locked, another ping it's an image, there are all images. His breath made small white clouds in the cold air. "You came," Adrian said softly. His voice was warm and close. "Sophia told me you were down here," Ethan said with a small smile. "Shouldn't you rest your shoulder?" "My shoulder is fine. My mind is just loud," Adrian murmured. He opened the small wooden door to the ice. He held out his hand to Ethan. "Come out here with me." Ethan hesitated. He looked down at his normal leather boots. "Adrian, I don't have skates. I will mess up the ice."

Truly it is a sight to behold but I know that I don’t belong here. I push off of the ice at my back and rise to stand. In every direction that I see it all looks the same. With a shrug I choose a direction and I take a step. My walking is halted as the ice underneath my foot cracks and I am forced to freeze as it spreads. I test the thinness of the ice by shifting the weight of my foot and more cracks appears. I curse silently as I do my best not to move while I search for a way out. “It seems that you my boy all always on thin ice” A voice says from in front of me.

With hesitant steps, she cautiously stepped onto the icy surface, feeling its chilling touch seep through the soles of her feet. As Theda stood on the ice, the coldness enveloped her, causing her to emit a soft, involuntary moan. The trembling in her legs began, a physical response to the frigid sensation beneath her feet. She cast a bewildered gaze towards me, searching for answers, but found only my unwavering gaze fixed upon her. "This is the beginning, Theda," I stated, my tone laced with a mix of determination and something darker that probably sent a shiver down her spine.

a model was a sport for the bored. Before I took my mark, I whispered a few words to Zephaniah. Then, with Lisa’s help, I moved to the center of the white expanse. Lisa looked at the surface beneath us, her scent spiking with fear. "The ice is too thin here, Ava! If we stay, it’s going to give way!" "I’ve already said it!" the photographer bellowed. "Shoot or leave!" "You bastard..." Lisa snarled, pointing a finger at him.

Julian leaned out the window, his face twisted with worry. “The ice is too thin!” he yelled. “The heat’s too much! Get off the ice, Maya!” “I can’t!” she yelled back, but she doubted he could hear her over the storm. She finally reached the edge of the rig. The air was thick, hot, and steamy. Hard to breathe, hard to see. She jammed her skates into the ice, spraying water everywhere, but her bad leg buckled. She crashed, sliding until her cast slammed into the metal base with a heavy thud.

Ronan I look down, and I'm standing at the edge of the frozen lake attraction, decorative light wards glow beneath the ice, illuminating cracks spiderwebbing very close to my boots. The ice is too thin, I'm one misstep from falling into the cold ice water. “Easy,” a low growly voice murmurs near my ear, too low and too close to place. “ You don't want to fall now.” By the time I stagger back onto solid ground, the voice that guided me there is gone, dissolved into the crowd like it was never real.

"Hope won't last an hour. We don't have the gear for a polar trek." "We have the 'Suit-Liners' from the Vesper," Clara intervened, pulling three thin, shimmering silver garments from a watertight crate. "They’re thermoreactive. They won't keep us comfortable, but they’ll keep our blood from turning to slush." The transition from the boat to the ice was a descent into a sensory vacuum. The moment Julian’s boots hit the crusted snow, the silence of the Arctic pressed against his eardrums. Every step was a gamble; the ice was a chaotic mosaic of pressure ridges and hidden leads of black, freezing water.

THE ICE Stepping out of the plane was like stepping onto another planet. The air was so cold it burned. It was minus forty degrees. At that temperature, exposed skin freezes in minutes. Moisture in your nose turns to ice instantly. We stood on the surface of a massive frozen lake. The plane lay behind us, a broken gray bird in the snow. All around us, mountains rose like white teeth, scraping the sky. "Coordinates?" Damian asked, pulling on his heavy parka. Kai checked a handheld GPS unit. "It's dead. Battery drained." He looked at Leo. "Sorry, kid. You ate the map." "It doesn't matter," I said. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the metal plate—the key from Eleanor’s journal. I held it

I stare at the dark until it stops talking like an enemy. Thin ice, he said. Fine. Then we cross it together, teeth bared, line tied, eyes open. And when it breaks, we swim.
