Fighting Fate
Tall Winding trees surrounded the pound, and my breath caught in my throat at the sight.
I stepped forward and suddenly there was a rustling in the trees. Both boys flanked me and as I looked closer I realized, every tree was full of blackbirds. They clung to the branches, their gleaming eyes watching us carefully. Then it began, beautiful and haunting, like nothing I had ever heard before. Goosebumps covered my skin as the haunting melodies wound and danced around each other, creepy, dark and beautiful.
Blackbirds don't sing this way naturally. They never could, this was magic, deep plunging sort of magic. Eventually, the singing stopped and suddenly everything around us was dead quiet agai
