The scent of dark energy, faint but unmistakable, was not on the parents.

“You failed,” I whispered, holding up the key.
Realizing their final secret was compromised, the former Luna let out a shriek of pure, impotent rage. They lunged at me, their faces contorted in a final attempt at violence.
