Then, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a dark figure.
The man wore a white shirt, black suit, an earpiece—young, sharp, stone-faced. The unmistakable look of a bodyguard. He stood nearby, clearly waiting for someone. The hallway was empty except for the two of them, and right in front of them was the women’s restroom.
At first, Julian didn’t think much of it. Then it hit him—he’d seen this man not long ago.

Julian’s breath hitched. He snapped his gaze to the restroom door, broke into a run, knocked once, barked a quick apology—and pushed the door open without waiting.
